Couldn't agree more, the news that send music to my ears more HP

Even the sales rep agreed that VDIM was the only downside of the car, but Lexus may be coming out with a personalization of settings. Meaning that some drivers may be able have thier VDIM set for more liberal driving fun. I don't know if that's true or not. I have seen nothing posted here about it. But anyway, the one thing I love about big horsepower cars and RWD is that if I wanted too. I can lay 2 long black stripes down the black top if I wanted too. Not that I would.
You can chirp the tires! There is a Traction OFF button which works below 30 MPH. The GS probably won't spin the tires while moving over 30mph anyway. Pulling out of the dealer with the traction button off would have definitely given you a screeching. Not sure why the dealer didn't point this button out to you. It is in the center console on the passenger side. You must slide the console back to see the buttons.

Default R&T speculates 400 HP for the 460

...just as long as it has a minimum of 400 lb. ft. of torque to go along with 400 horses

Close to 400 lb.ft. max. torque is much more likely than close to 400 hp IMHO . . .

That's asking too much from a N/A 4.6L V8. Nobody has ever pulled off that much torque from a 4.6L V8, and I doubt if Lexus can, even with all the latest and greatest technologies. I say 360 lb-ft is a more likely figure.

I'd say the contrary. Close to 400hp is more likely, but still unlikely.

HP can be much more easily tuned, while the max torque is pretty much set with a fixed displacement. Torque curve other the hand can be easily tuned too.

As I said in one of my past post, they CAN tune it to close to 400 hp, but they WON' T for the GS460 nor the LS460

I would much rather have 400 lb. ft. of torque as well. But I agree that it might not be possible.

Just checked out the M5 and M6 specs and they have only 384 lb. ft. of torque, so I guess it probably won't happen. Wishful thinking

Of course they do, they want to sell you a car ASAP but the deposit is fully refundable. However, I think you should wait for more official info on the specs. of the GS460 first before you decide, we are all just wildly speculating at this point

Yes, BMW 750 with 4.8 litre V8 has 360hp/360 lb.ft.tq, I think the new LS/GS460 should be around that neighborhood . . .

Clublexus Forum Topic 10 years from now:

Ohh man, I can't believe Lexus released the GS740 with only 600HP! I would have settled for 700, but not 600. Who do they think they're kidding trying to compete in the HP wars. MB has 1200HP AMG2 series, and BMW's Mach Series is sporting 1150. They'll have to do better to earn my money.

Hopefully everyone gets the humor in this. Even the biggest fans of HP monsters. Everything is relative to time certainly, but look where we are with the same existing roads and infastructure. Yesterday I just drove the SL55 home (about 4 miles) and was able to use about 300hp (of the 500hp) for 3 whole seconds.

Let's allow the best engineers to concentrate more energy on building faster (warp :-)) space ships. They're now finding earthlike planets out there I'm being humorous here, but when you think about it in the grand scheme of things, does an extra 100hp to the asphalt really make a difference?
