Now that the cat's out of the bag, though, I have to warn you guys that some of these functions can seriously mess up your nav. system (especially Loading, Error Log and Tel Voice) if you press the wrong buttons.
Like anything else. Always be careful what settings you change.

E55, thanks for the great tip and instructions! Worked just as you said.

FYI, also tried this procedure on a friend's 2004 ES with NAV and it didn't work. The maintenance menu does not appear.

I was told this only works in Gen 4 NAV.

Default It works in an 05 LC and likely the LX470

GREAT TIP. I almost spent 100$ to allow me to change nav while driving. This tip is the best I have seen.

I have my DVD and Bluetooth overridden in my 05 LC, but a few wires do need to be cut and an override installed. I had a stereo shop install it for 30$. I got the override on eBay for 140$. It works great and I highly recommend it. Here is a link to the seller:

The only downside is cutting the wires, but I feel it is totally worth it. Keeping the wife happy on a long road trip is a must.

The fix you speak of and have posted the URL will not work on the GS. So for those of you looking for a fix on the "GS" dont waist your flow.

It works like a charm. Once you are in the service screen make sure you depress and hold the override. Then you can punch in any destination while car is in motion! It works perfectly.

Default Hmm, doesn't work on the 04 GX

Tried this and it will not work on my older (04) GX. Bummer. But knowing the screen is there on the 05 also leads ment to believe that it's also there on the 04 (probably just under a different egg). Now, to find that egg...

Default You changed my life

This is so great - I just rain out to the car in the rain to try it. THANKS!!!

I know you said it does not workwith "Bluetooth" - does that mean no override on any of the phone book functions?

Anyone have an override for that one????

Thanks again!

Wooks great on the GS also works on the 05 Toyota Sienna!! Now all we need is a override to play movies with the brake off.

jp82729,
You wrote: "...only supposed to be used by engineering and development side..."

It's clear that you know what is used by Engg. & Dev. Since the "cat's out of the bag", care to highlight what the other buttons do? Lexus might not be very happy if we went to test-drive a new car only to test what these other buttons do, and ended up messing the nav or some other system.

Good luck guys and hope this was of any help. I'm getting a BMW 750Li and replacing the GS300. You guys are bunch of good folks, better than most forums (except the race forum here, I swear they never lose )

I think this was the shorterst I've owned a car, I will miss the touch screen Nav though.

Good luck everyone, back to German I go
