Default aftermarket wheels and tire pressure monitoring

for those that got aftermarket wheels. Did you guys notice if your tire shop unmounted the tire pressure stuff and mounted them onto the new wheels? I'm sure they had to have, otherwise you would have thrown some sort of warning light. Just curious if anyone had issues with it.

The tire pressure sensors are located in the valve stems of the stock wheels & many after market wheels do not have valve stems that can accommodate them. If that's the case, the sensors can also be banded around the circumference of the wheels using metal straps to make them work, & some custom aftermarket wheels manufacturers do provide the straps with instructions to install them. Otherwise, you have to just forget about the sensors & try to disable the warning light &/or beep.
There are some aftermarket wheels that can accommodate the sensors, the wheel dealers can usually find out for you those that do. The 3GS is still a relatively new model though, so there may not be too many wheels availble yet that can accomodate the sensors on the valve stems. . .

Default my situation...

What if your aftermarket wheel is a OEM chrome 18" replacing the stock 17" rims?
would the new sensors fit the 18's?
225/50/17(stock)......replaced by the225/40/18 OEM chrome LS430 18 x 7.5's

Can't say for all aftermarket wheels, but for sensor applications such as this, Zone Wheels are drilled to accept the OE pressure sensor as a bolt-in installation. BBS wheels have an adaptor available which can be used to attach the OE sensors to the BBS wheel.
Doesn't get any easier than that!

Other wheels can use large clamps or bands to attach the OE sensors to aftermarket wheels.
This method is fairly reliable.

try putting the sensors in ur car in ur glove box or near the spare tire and reset the tire warning light. not sure if that does the trick but i know it does when the spare has 70 psi
