Yes, but very briefly, and that was on my AWD GS300. The highest number I've hit for a length of time on the freeway was 29.9mpg. My GS only has about 1300 miles, so I expect to eventually hit 30mpg consistently on the open road. I keep the speed anywhere from 60-65mph.

Here is an article that explains how the EPA estimates gas mileage. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/info.shtml

i finished my first tank of gas this week and got a whopping 325 miles out of 15.25 gals(how much it took to fill it back up). I'm just happy w/ the fact that this thing weighing as much as it does and i dont necessarily drive it like a grandpa that i still managed to get that much out it. So i would imagine the mileage should get better as the motor breaks in

We just finished the first leg of a trip from Porland OR to Alturas CA running 60-75mph in our GS430. This included some quick passing at 95mph . When we started, the estimated range was short of our destination by 60 miles but continued to improve to the point where we went the full way, 380 miles, on one tank and calculated the average fuel economy at 26.09mpg. The Lexus Tank Average said 26.0mpg.
The trip included going over the 5,000' Willamette Pass. Needless to say, I'm very impressed for a car that only has 3,000 miles on it.

I've never driven a car of any brand that I've driven long enough to compute the gas milage that I wasn't able to beat the EPA rated milage by at least 10%... some by quite a bit more, up to 25%, including my GS400, 4Runner, ES300/330, RX300/330, Nissan Maxima, Chevy Silverado, Honda Accord, and the list goes on... y'all just don't understand how to drive light-footed.
Don't exceed 1.8-2.5k RPMs (depending on the vehicle and how high they need to rev for just enough acceleration to not get people agitated for you leaving the light too slowly), and always predict lights. If you see a red light far ahead let off the gas and coast so that you hit it green and never have to hit the brakes... even if it doesn't turn green by the time you get there, just coasting will have boosted your milage as well as saved some wear on your brakes and tires.
I've managed over 30mpg with a 50/50 mix of highway/city driving in an RX330 for goodness sakes!
