My 06GS300 had it’s 10k service.
The cost was $110. Service included: oil, filter, A/C filter, tire rotation and car wash.

wow, $110 doesn't get you much from a lexus dealer does it? i could've done that for $45.

I think we're paying for the new Lexus service waiting areas; big screen TVs, coffee, pop, bottled water, donuts, wireless, cushy chairs, mini office cubes with phones, etc. All very cool and not a greasy hand print or oil wipe rag in sight.

there is a ton of brake dust on the 430. i cannot keep the front wheels looking clean for more than a day. i'm at 5000, and althought it's not as bad as it was when new, it is still pretty dirty. i haven't had a car before that gives off so much brake dust, but i am sure it has everything to do w/ the mammoth size of the brakes on the 430!

oh well. that's part of the reason i got chrome wheels, hides the dust better than the graphite. the graphite just looks like muck after a day or two.

The brake dust on the front wheels is crazy. I'm ordering a product called Wheelwax. I will tell you if it works.

I agree, keeping the front wheels clean is a major pain...much worse than w/ the old GS.

i've had my GS300 for a little over a week now...and i'm really surprised at the low level of brake dust...seems to have more in the back than the front.

Now my previous car was more high performance, you look at it wrong and it would cough up brake dust!

I thought I was going crazy thinking that there was lots of brakedust. Oh well, I wash my car every 2-3 days anyway. I have a membership at a really fancy West LA carwash (www.carwash.tv) that charges $55 per month for unlimited $20 washes. I don't think they ever saw me coming!

Default Brake Dust

Coming from the Mercedes world, I can relate to brake dust. It's very common for the European cars with their soft brake pads. With the front wheels doing the majority of braking, brake dust is always heavy on the front and light on the back wheels.

With my GS300 I never notice any brake dust between washes (once a week), and I'm very glad of it. I'm tired of trying to wash brake dirt off my driveway after washing the car.

There is a product from http://www.kleenwheels.com/ that is a brake dust cover that greatly helps and almost elliminates brake dust from accumulating on the rims. I used them on my old '98 E320 with succcess. However, depending on the rim, you may not like how it looks. If my GS300 had brake dust, I stil wouldn't use a Kleenwheels on these rims. They can be unattractive, especially for the GS. Also, some people feel they can contribute towards brake fade because of heat buildup behind the dustcover. I never noticed it, but then again I wasn't driving my car on an Autocross either.

Dave
