i called Sirius. the $500 lifetime plan is based on receiver, unfortunately, not by individual. there is good news and bad news

good news - you can do 3 receiver transfers in the lifetime subscription

bad news - each transfer costs $75.00 (well that is the current rate, not sure what will be the price in many years). if the transfer is within the 1yr related warranty period on the receiver, and the receiver malfunctions and you need a new one, this won't count towards your 3 transfers.

potentially good news - the sirius kit for lexus is comprised of two parts - the receiver and then the fit kit (for the custom mounting for each model). so it is possible to just keep your receiver over and over again and use with various fit kits as you change cars. the only question there is whether or not the receiver is the same for all auto makers, or if Sirius makes different receivers for each brand. if it is "universal", you could use this 1 receiver for life probably.

in my case, i lease a lot. if i assume i continue to lease cars 3 yrs at a time, i can get up to 12 years for $500 + $75 + $75 + $75, which brings my effective cost of service to ~$5/month. which i guess is pretty good compared to their other options. but then again, if the receiver is easy to move around from car to car, then i will just do that. the only bummer is if cars start becoming equipped with satellite receivers from the factory (which i am not sure they will), then it will be a waste of money to uninstall and reinstall w/ old receiver...

looknow, did you get a CL discount on the unit?
No, I didn't realize there was a CL discount. How much is it?

Also, where can I find the PDF for the installation instructions?

Thanks,

i paid $280 shipped. yours should be about the same w/ CL discount.

no PDF is included with the GS unit. darrel had emailed me the ES install PDF to show me what the GS install might look like. unfortunately the GS kit isn't shipped with the instructions either.

Somebody with Lexus should be able to sign into TIS and surface the PDF file to us.
