when the GS 350 comes out, i remember that a couple of the members metioned that it will come with the new avalon's motor, well when the 05 avalon came out it produced 280hp with 260tq, and for 2006 the avalon now has 268hp with 242tq i think. i know both engines are the same just the way for 2006 are calculated differently. so my question is that will the upcoming GS350 (ES350 RX350) will be rated at the 280hp and 260tq version or the 2006 hp and tq ratings? because honestly i think the 2005 hp and tq ratings sounds better, especially for the GS and ES lineup.

the Lexus 3.5 is more powerful than toyota's. It has direct injection and other goodies that allow it to have more power and still have good milage. They all be rated higher than toyotas since lexus is going the power/hq route.

The Lexus 3.5 in the IS350 is rated at 306 hp even with the new SAE rating, so it's reasonable to expect the GS350 to have similar hp rating . . .

oh so the IS350 nad upcoming GS350 will have the same exact engine? i get it, i didnt think about that before. i was thinking that the GS350's engine was the same as the new avalon's engine. but what about the soon to be ES350 and RX350? i can see a RX producing that much power, but i cant see a ES doing more that 300 or 280 horses

Yes the same engine, like the 1IS and 2GS 300 have the same engine. Will they have the same power ratings? We have no idea.
