has anyone called their local dealers to check the install cost on the Sirius kit? i plan on getting mine from darrel at sewell lexus and have it installed locally.

one san diego dealer quoted me $500+ for LABOR only , claiming how they have to take apart the dash, etc. and 5+ hrs of labor @ $105/hr. darrel said his guys are going to charge 3hrs @ 50/hr, which is much more reasonable.

i am appalled at the cost the local dealers charge. is there any way we can get a group buy on installs in the so cal area?

You think thats bad, Mercedes wants a $1000 for new SL. $500 seems about right for the Lex.

My local dealer(s) wanted $995 for the XM kit installed, and $299 just for the kit. I ordered the kit by itself and installed it in about 2.5 hours. I'm assuming the Sirius kit is very similar, if not identical, to the XM. If you decide to self-install & want the factory installation instructions, I'd be happy to email them to you.

...And by the way, there's no involving the dashboard at all. All the wiring, power cables, etc are installed in the trunk. Tell your San Diego dealership nice try...

well it does involve some dash and headliner manipulation, b/c the Sirius antenna is mounted on the inside of the windshield behind the mirror. but i agree, $500 is ridiculous.

good news - getting better prices now. longo says they will do for $141, but i don't know if this is confirmed b/c they don't even know what the thing looks like, so they are waiting. i think the price is based off of the XM install... i imagine most dealers are getting them this week, but some of the ones i emailed had no idea it was out. sewell shipped mine today, should be here friday

lexus carlsbad will do for $180. i think i will give them a try since they are closer and next to some nice outlet shops i can hang around

either way, sounds like most of these 1st Sirius installs will be guinea pig installs, so hopefully they get it right the first time around and don't damage all the interior panels.

I just received my Sirius tuner and fit kit. Does anyone have the installation Guide? It says on the box it is available through TIS (Toyota Information System)

I have part numbers PTS31-0052 (receiver) and PTS31-30060 (FitKit)

hi looknow, same here... got it on friday and was bummed not to see the install guide in there. don't know what this "TIS" is. and it's not posted on lexus-parts.com yet.

my appt is on wedsnesday morning for the install. i will try to get a copy and post it here if people are interested.
