Default Lights aimed too low

I atually filed a complaint with the NHTSA in hopes of getting Lexus to address this problem. In rural areas the lights are aimed WAY TOO LOW and you can outrun them very easy. It is also almost impossible to see pedestrians/deer/etc. more than 20 feet in front of the vehicle. When I contacted Lexus they told me that the low beams are intentionally amied low as they have received many complaints from other drivers about being blinded by HID lights. They told me the low beams are for inner city driving only and for trailing other vehicles. All other times we should be using our high beams -- if we all did that imagin how many complaints there would be!! Ia have driven countless German vehicles wioth Xenons/HID's and they are grwat but the low beams on the GS are useless and dangerous. If you share this compliant call Lexus and register a complaint so they will hopefully address this problem.

Ehh brining back an old thread but you can actually just disable the whole autoleveling feature. Most cars that use DOT sheilds with hid come with out autoleveling. I.E, acura, infiniti, caddy. Auto-leveling is technically only required on ece code cars but lexus installs it anyway even though there cutof is designed under DOT regulations. Don't try to aim your headlights to high, because when there all nicely leveled go about 20 feet in front of the car at night and you will see basically what incoming drivers will see.

I don't think the auto-leveling is the issue though. The leveling seems to work fine. It is the fact that, at the factory set level, they are aimed way to low to safely see in front of the car. It's not even close to acceptable. I would challenge anyone to drive a completely unlit road at night and tell me it is safe. I'm puzzled at how this can go on except that most people don't drive unlit roads when living in the suburbs or the city.

Thats my point, the autoleveling regulates your beam level, although I've been told you can adjust the beam height with the rear screws in the back of the 06 headlights.

cassiri:

You are right on !!! The current level is unacceptable and dangerous. Please contact Lexus to voice your concerns as they told me that I am "the only one who has problems with the lights".

Are you talking about the parking light ? I swapped blue bulbs to match the HID.

Thanks for the tips on leveling setup, I feel the stock setup is too low to see the front, too.
