$395.00 Sounds like a complete ripoff. I had my 15K service
done for about $129.00.

I thought all lexus came with free maintainence service til 25000 miles. At least thats what my lexus dealer told us when i purchased the car. I would check with the sales person who sold u the car. Becuz that seems very high!

I just returned from Keyes Lexus in Van Nuys. I was quoted $395 for the 15,000 miles service! I was so outraged that I have called the Lexus USA customer service and I complained about the entire issue. I was told that the dealerships may set their prices as they wish. The customer service representative recommended to “shopping around”.
Your complaint is only meaningful in the context of the service being done. If you were to obtain an itemized list of the proposed work, then you can shop around and see whether the price is reasonable. Also, you can "point" the service advisor to the service manual and say that you want only the services that are listed in there (no unnecessary work) - and price that and compare. I know, for example that Lexus dealers like to do things that are not really necessary (like drain and fill ATF, replace diff fluid at 15K intervals, etc.). If you don't like the situation, your best way out would be to find a reputable non-Lexus shop to deal with.

BTW, 3rd gen GS300 AT is a sealed unit and therefore does not require ATF drain and fill (unless the pan is dropped), according to the owner manual. Whoever is paying at the dealership for this service (drain and fill) at 15 / 30 K is throwing money at the dealer.

Good thing I found this thread. I was about to go there for my 15k service. I guess they dropped the price a little and its 385 now. I asked how much is just a oil change and they said $89. Vista lexus wanted 225 but they are booked till tuesday so Im going to Lexus of Glendale which is charging 179 for the 15k.

This is dealer-only benefit. It does not apply to all Lexus. Northside and Westside Lexus' offer free maintenance up to 20k miles.

Default Loaner cars

Does Vista or Glendale offer loaner cars? Also, how is their service? Do they try to add all these things that aren't necessary? Thanks..

Glendale did the service and gave me a brand new rx400h with only 10 miles on it as a loaner. Service wasn't bad except for the part that they wanted $65 to program my other remote. They said the 20k service is going to be $179 as well, then $129 for the 25k, and $499 for the 30k.

Update on Keyes Lexus...

Just got my car back from Keyes...One word to describe them...SCAM!!!! They said they rotated my tires, but they didn't...It is supposed to be part of the 15k service, too...Man, this makes me wonder what Lexus stealerships don't do when they say they did it...
Are we to simply trust that they do the job they promise???
I wrote a complaint to Lexus, we'll see what happens. Stay away from Keyes...They're just like another Jiffy-Lube!!!

Maybe I'll try Glendale, but how do I know they are honest? Any suggestions to HONEST dealers/mechanics???

Update to update:

Ok, so after 3 hrs without a phone call from Keyes I HAD TO CALL. His explanation was that they balanced the tires, but did not rotate them because the "best" tires were up front...Is this a legit explanation? Also, he said that the yokohamas are inherently flawed so they wear weird even with proper maintainence...I have a feeling that he is just pulling stuff out of his ****, but can anyone verify his claims? Thanks.
