Default Sport Mode in '06 GS300

Hi all,

This is my first post since I am a new Lexus GS300 owner. I traded in a 2003 G35 and I have some observations and questions for this forum.

First, you can't compare the G35 to the GS300. They are in different leagues. The G35 is a value oriented sports sedan that is fun to drive while the GS300 is a sport/luxury sedan which has a level of sophistication that cannot be matched by any infiniti. With that said, I was wondering if anybody has the specifics regarding what driving charateristics change when driving in sports mode vs normal.

I was playing with it this morning on my way to work and besides better shifiting, it feels that this mode also tightens the sterring. I was also wondering if it does anything to the suspension? I ask this because I read in the manual that all it does is change haw the transmission responds to the driving dynamics, but it felt like it did much more than that.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

Thanks

Steve

welcome

yes, it stiffens the suspension. you can feel road bumps a lot more, and cornering seems to be better (less body lean). i think it's pretty noticeable. but it depends on how you normally drive and the roads you drive on; some people have reported little to no difference.

here's some info on the website, but not that helpful: http://www.lexus.com/models/gs/performance.html#avs

You guys may be confusing the 300 and the 430.

I have the 300, and I think the "power" mode button just controls transmission shift points. The adjustable suspension is only on the 430

indeed, changes shift logic plus you can keep it in whatever gear you want, it will just bounce off rev limiter

you might be right. 430 has PWR and SPORT modes. i assumed from the title that some 300's have sport mode also . . . not sure though . . .

Only thing defined as sport mode on the GS300 is the transmission "S" mdoe where you can select the gears. Other than that you have Power mode (switch on center console) which changes the computers timing. Neither of which to my knowledge adjust either steering or supension.

On the 430 there is the shock dampen rate adjustment switch/****. This does not ajust steering or gearing.
