I have an '06 GS without Nav.
I got a Motorola E815. The phone syncs up with the car, but OF COURSE, I can't transfer the phonebook. Anyway, I was able to save sent or received phone numbers as "1 touch". The problem is that they are showing up as the full number, such as 6389552367, which can be confusing to look at while driving down the road
The Lexus owners manual shows names and numbers showing up together, but I'm only getting numbers. I'd like to have a name show up in the 1-touch block, such as "Christine", instead of a long number. I'm guessing I can only get the names to show if I do the "transfer phonebook", which I can't do!!!!! Am I correct?
thanks

No, I can't transfer any numbers. The car tells me to send the phonebook from the phone and then just sits there waiting, but the phone doesn't have any feature to send the info that I know of. I think Verizon disabled part of that feature and completely removed another part (at least that's what's I've read on "modding" forums).

BUT, I also read that one of the transfer functions of OBEX is actually missing, and people have hacked the phone, but it still won't send the phonebook.

I have a verizon phone also and was unable to transfer phonebook. To get around that, I bought a cingular phone, loaded myphonebook, transferred to the car and returned the call within the return period. Worked great.
