Question How to override "Service Due" messages???

Guys,
Do any of you know how to override/disable "service due" message on 2006 GS?
I took the car to the dealer to change the oil but they forgot to reset the maintenance information. I had to go back again and it took them 10 seconds to reset but they did not show me how to.
I guess they want to make sure that I come back to them every time..
Any advise?

Engine Oil Maintenance Reset Warning (U.S.A. only)

This message indicates that the engine oil maintenance
data has been reset. After replacing the engine oil, be sure
to reset the maintenance data.
To reset the data, perform the following operations:
1. Push the “ODO TRIP” switch in the switch box to
change the display to blank.
2. Turn the engine switch off.
3. Turn the engine switch on with the trip meter “RESET”
switch held down.
4. Keep pushing the “RESET” switch for longer than 7
seconds after the engine switch is turned on.
After the above operation, the master warning light comes
on, a warning tone sounds and the above message
appears to inform you that the engine oil maintenance
data has been reset.

There is no blank....push the ODO TRIP button to the car mileage display (not trip A or B).
That prevents you from resetting TRIP A or TRIP B miles.

It took me a couple tries when I first did this too. I can't remember which one it was, but when you turn the car "on" while pressing the reset button, it was either with the brake pedal pressed (to actually start the engine) or not pressed (turns "on" but doesn't start the engine). This was a couple months ago, but whichever way you did it previously, try it the other way. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful....

Finally can post....manual is wrong. The reset is done by getting the ODO/trip to display miles, not trip A or B. Shut car off, push and hold reset button, only turn car on in accessory mode. That will reset it. Don't start the car with foot on the brake. Took me a while- this forum helped...dealer didn't know when I called.

Most dealers are still learning about the car also( I think thats sad ) they should be trained.

Default Thanks!

Can someone please sticky this?

1. Hit ODO/trip to display miles, not trip A or B (while the car is running or in accessory mode).
2. Shut car off, push and hold the "Reset" button
3. (WITH YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE,) turn car on in accessory mode
4. Hold until you see a message on the screen and hear the beeps stop.
Thanks, jackj42!

Default I tried this..it works - Owners Manual is wrong.

Don't start the car like it says in the Manual, just press the ODO reset, press the start button to accessory and keep pressing the reset button for approx 7 seconds. The light will then go off.

THanks to the help on this forum -
