Wheel balancing necessary?

Just got my 18" Tourmalines installed at Star Toyota but they said they weren't able to balance the wheels because their wheel machines only take up to 17". The wheels, however, already came balanced when I bought them from Sewell Lexus. I know that they are supposed to be balanced each time the tires are taken off or put on. They told me that most likely it won't matter but should I leave them alone or take my car in somewhere else to get it balanced? If I leave them like this, would my tires prematurely wear out or would there be any adverse effects?

you should DEFINITELY get the balanced. you have to take off all the old weights and rebalance every time. I hope you didn't pay them to mount ur tires w/o balancing. You are going to get uneven treadwear, and the wheel can start shakin as well. I think you should go back. Any respectable establishment wouldn't tell you that it should be fine.

Well I took them back to another tire shop and had it balanced. After a long day and lots of money spent, they're finally good to go. Check my other thread to see pics of them.
