Default Have you swtiched to synthetic oil?

Any '06 GS owners running synthetic oil in their GS? I'm considering switching to Mobil 1.

First, lets clarify which GS we're talking about. My car is a GS300. I just checked the manual and could not find any reference to synthetic oil. The manual shows:
Use Lexus approved Toyota Motor Oil or equivalent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity. OIl Grade: API Grade SL Energy-Conserving or ILSAC multigrade engine oil. Recommended viscosity 5W-30.
The specs for the GS430 differential shows synthetic gear oil, and for the GS300 it shows Hypoid Gear Oil.

if it's Synthetic oil, you better not touch it for at LEAST 10k!!!!!!!!! it would be a crime to do so!

I have a GS430 06 and I put nothing but Mobil 1 in it. I just bring a case to the service dept and they put it in. Most times they don't charge for the labor.

Please let us know where you found this in the GS300/GS430 manual. My GS300/430 manual doesn't show this. Is your GS U.S?

I just talked to the Lexus person today they told me GS 300 and 430 use normal oil. But then they told me GS300 use 10-40 but the GS430 uses 5-30. But then my owners book says the GS300 and 430 use 5-30 so who knows.

I think each individual dealership determines the type of oil to use. Don't be afraid to ask you Service Rep what type of oil they use before the maintenance begins- they may give you a choice. My dealership in South Atlanta has always used a 50% Synthetic Blend on the 3GS.

With recommended oil change intervals at 5K miles, a 50% blend is OK IMHO. If you want to stretch your oil changes beyond the 5K mark, I would suggest a full synthetic oil.

i bought mobil one at sams club and went to longo where they did a change for $40 or so, with their oil, it is $52 for a 06 gs. That is a 5k service essentially but if you ask for a 5k service it runs more like 100-140, and all it includes is a rotation of tires....
