I like the CLS's exterior and really don't care for the interior design in most of the newer MB's. When I pointed a CLS out to my wife, her only comment was that it reminded her of Infiniti I30 from the last decade (the one with the droopy butt--ouch). If you are set on picking one of these two models, just decide whether you love the MB $20k more. It does have more exclusivity and designer flavor--when it runs, that is.

As much as I have loyalty for Lexus, I would probably pick the CLS because it looks exotic. It looks as good as the SL.

I dont agree on cls because i dont think it looks that great. And no the CLS500 is not way more faster and more powerful than the GS430. If you can wait untill the gs460 or whatever they are gonna call it then wait because im sure it will beat the cls in terms of power.

Sigh, I love both cars. If money wasn't an object, the CLS 500 with the AMG package.

Isnt the new version 500 engine with 380hp coming out pretty soon? I would wait for that one.

from what I just saw the new GS 300 will become the GS350 and the GS430 will become the new GS460, the GS460 supposedly shares the same engine as the new re-designed 2007 LS 460. nobody knows when it is coming out, I would like to see that, I guess I should wait. decisions, decisions

My only problem with the CLS is that with 4 seats, it's very expensive on a per seat basis.

The one time I need to carry a fifth person it would probably **** me off royally.

Why not the E500? E320cdi (a rocket with a chip). M45?

Anyone that have sat in the backseats of the CLS & you'll see why they call it a coupe . . .

I'll probably not consider a Mercedes model in it's first 2 or 3 years of production . . .

if i got the lexus would you recommend me going ahead with GS430 or wait for the GS460? outside of the engine, are they any other cosmetic differences??

Probably not ,if any - probably very minor cosmetic changes that's barely noticeable. If you don't really need a new car right now, you should wait for the GS460 IMHO.

umm, not only that, but the two rear seats on the cls aren't really thing "normal" as well. i am 5'7" and i already have a tough time in the back. it's damn small.... still, the back seats in my sc430 are more useless, but those in the cls aren't much better

if you can wait, by all means get the gs460. by today's standard, the gs430 is no where "fast" anymore, and the engine dates all the way back to 2001 if you care. for pretty much the same price, you will get the gs460, a new (and possible better) engine with more hp and tq, and the car will be quite a bit faster i say.

granted it's not likely i will get the 3gs, but you can see the resaon why i didn't even consider the new gs430

BMW 550i. But among those two, I would pick GS430 and save lots of money.

Get the CLS...I sat in one for about 20 minutes today and made me want to trade in my car for one...
