06 GS430 or 06 Mercedes CLS500
#31
I'd wait for the 2007 Lexus GS 460 if you can or get the 2006 GS 430. My cousin had a Mercedes-Benz CL600, which he recently got rid of for a Panoz Esperante, and he said that the reliability on that car was horrible. He said that his BMW 750Li and X5 4.4i are more reliable than his CL600 and we all know what kind of reliability BMW has. If you're paying $130,000 ( CL600 ) for a car, it should be almost bullet-proof in my mind. IMHO Mercedes aren't worth their price, but most people just buy them for the Mercedes-Benz name anyways, which is pretty sad. As far as the CLS500 goes, I think it looks like a turtle on wheels. It's really not that attractive, but that's just my opinion. Save yourself the weekly trips to the Mercedes-Benz Service Department and get the GS 430 or wait for the GS 460.

i duno about all this benz being so unreliable.. my dad has an s-class and he's only had to take it to the dealership once because the lights on the dash board would no longer show up.
other than that he has no issues at all

Well tell your dad he is the minority of the lucky benz owners who arent in the shop 2 weeks out of every month. Im not knocking on Benz, My favorite cars are sl55 and E55 which I plan on acquiring either one of those in the coming months but the fear of it being a problem car frightens me. Like I said the only thing that Lexus and other japaneese vehicles do better than germans is quality, especially the electronics.

i am coming to like the styling of the new CLS each and everyday, however i would also worry about long term reliability, but short term leasing would be considerable. you mentioned to have the AMG package but not the actual AMG CLS55, if the 55 then get it! if not i would go with the GS or wait for the new GS with the more powerful engine. g'luck
