The 380 HP is not going to happen. I'm not saying they won't hit 380, I'm just saying that with the new SAE measurements, you rarely get a nice even number like that (ok, you have a 1-10 shot at it).

Lexus has said "around 380" - my guess is that will be somewhere between 372-388 when done with the final numbers and yes, I bet the GS will have slightly more - but not an even 10 no matter what due to the new calcs. Just a guess - like every other calc on here!

Just read about the new 2007 Camry V6 with 268 horse power. That's quite a lot more horses than the current GS300! Sounds totally insane. I think this is a strong indicator that the current GS300 really won't be around for too long before it get replaced by GS350. Toyota shouldn't let the Camry out sprint the GS.

And I wonder if the ES330 will eventually get dropped the same 3.5L or better engine.

Well, that is the plan: 2007 GS350 and GS460.

yes, the ES will also get the 3.5L, since it's based on the Camry platform, and there's no reason for Toyota to give Camry a better engine than ES.

No doubt lexus will upgrade the es to a 3.5. Question is will the es350 have a few more ponies than the Camry. If we look back in history, the es always had a couple more hp over the camry.
With that in mind, what kind of hp would the GS350 have - same as the IS350 or a few more

The answer is already there at lexus.jp.

The IS350 is rated at 318ps:

while the GS350 is rated at 315ps:

i am glad that 380 hp wont happen :-).

p.s. Lexus versions of 3.5 GR w/o DI (ES and RX) should have 280hp...

Today's Chicago Tribune's Auto section says the new LS460 will have 380HP, 8-speed trans and it'll park itself.

I wonder if the self parking will be exclusive to the LS460 . . .& what about the 8 speed tranny ?
I remember the Mercedes 7 speed is introduced exclusively in the S class, CL & SL class first & the lower models at least a year later.

hahaha you asked the question that i have kept quiet for long, andrew. i wonder what they would do on the tranny, whether they will have 8 speed for the gs as well

if so, that would prove a very short lived 6 speed tranny in lexus history

and self park, yeah i would say just for the ls

This just in:

According to AutoNet, the Taiwanese online "tabloid" magazine where I first found the bits regarding 8-speed auto in the LS460, the GS460 will be rated at exactly "100hp more" than the GS430. Does that mean 400hp? We'll see...

Current GS430 is rated at 290 HP. If true, well, close enough to 400
