Default GS 450h with Gen 5 NAVI system...

Autospies has pics, and the menu buttons, font, and color motif are clearly Gen 5. Does this mean we'll see new GS's with Gen 5 within a few months? Looks very nice!

I hope so, I'm holding out for the GS460 with Gen 5 Navi.

B-E-A-utiful, if that is true, I will trade in my 05 RX330 in for a 07 GS4 in September.

What I hate for living in BC is that we have to pay 17% tax.

Makes sense, would expect the Gen 5 display on the '07 models. They look great on the new IS.

The font on the consoles looks like regular Lexus, not the serifed IS font.

The 2007 MY Lexus vehicles will have the Lexus 5th Generation Navigation System. If they don't the people at Lexus are really smoking something. The interior of the new GS is absolutely beautiful. Better than any other Lexus. The new interior of the IS is nice, but the GS is on a different level IMHO. Also, what happened to shark-fin antenna previously shown in one of the Lexus GS 450h photos?

I just traded in my 'o6 GS300 for the GS450h. I love the car, especially since it now has g5 navi like my IS350. the only thing that has been removed (or at least from where I'm used to it in my IS350 and the old '06 GS300) is the navi override "easter egg". Used to be able to go to "menu", "volume", and then on the left side of the screen... hit the corners (starting with top corner) alternating for a count of four; and pull up the systems panel with the override feature.

Anyone here know where this option has been moved to? I know it must still exist, unless Lexus has given the technicians another way (tool) to access this service menu.

Thanks,

Nick

I've had the 450h since late April and the override works fine on mine and is the same location as you mention, menu, volume, etc. Learned it last year on the 06 400h and found that it works the same way on my 450h. Going from gen 4 (in the 400h) to gen 5 Nav didn't make a difference in the override in my experience. Wonder if the newest 450h's have this restricted somehow?

I'm going outside to try something RIGHT NOW. I'll repost as soon as I find out, but I'm thinking that maybe unlike my GS300 and IS350, I can't set the override while moving! With you mentioning that yours works fine, I remembered that I was moving when trying to set the override. My IS350 allows this, and so did my gs300, but maybe the gs450h can only be invoked while sitting still.

be back in a moment

.....

Doesn't work I've had mine for 3 weeks now. I guess they've somehow "moved" the feature (i'm sure they knew users had caught on).

Oh well... I'll keep searching.

Genyosai, sorry to hear the Nav override is not working for you. The override does work on mine when in motion too not just when in park or sitting still. I did it this morning while driving just to make sure and it worked fine.

We're getting an 07 RX 400h (with gen 5 Nav) later this week so will try it on that to see if it works.

I'll bet it doesn't work Seems as though later builds have the option disabled. I think later this evening I'm going to try the disc swap between my IS350 and GS450h... just to see what happens. In case the v6 disc does something strange, I'll boot the 450h with v5 disc first (can't be any harm there). I don't want to boot my IS with the v6 disc IN CASE the disc does have something to do wih disabling this feature.

I find it ver odd that I've received a phone call, email and letter from my dealership "mentioning" that v6 disc is out. I had an RX330 w/navi before I traded it on the '06 GS and had never received such advertisment for a dvd disc upgrade.

Makes me wonder if the v6 disc will disable the feature on the units released with v5.

I'll find out and post here later.

The NAV trick should work on the RX400h. It works on a 2007 RX350, but there is a good chance when they do a mid year production change/shift, the newer NAV units will not have the NAV trick available anymore. Just like the 07 GS350, IS350, LS460 and etc.

See the tips, tricks, etc. thread which has the answer from Sonartech to the issue of some gen 5 Navs having the override and some not. It depends on the dvd version that comes in the car. It seems version 5.1 includes the override and 6.1 does not.

If it's running a v6.1 firmware (check the Nav DVD), you're right - it's been moved. I seriously doubt it was removed, however, since that same precious menu also had the magic "Loading" option which is how Lexus Service tells the Nav System to force itself to update its firmware. I also verified that the "Over Ride" and "Loading" options still exist in the firmware for v6.1, they just require some presently unknown magic to make them appear. You CAN, however, make a v6.1 system eat a v5.1 firmware by removing the system from the car (unplugging it) for ~5 minutes. When you plug it back in and turn the unit on, it will attempt to load whatever LOADING.KWI file is on the currently installed Nav DVD... even if it's v5.1 firmware (loading.kwi) placed on a DVD+R containing v6.1 map data, hint hint hint...

"Thanks, Denso. I needed the challenge..."
