So when will GS get the new 4.6L engine?
OK guys, I'm sure many of you have been watching the new release of the Lexus LS 460 today, right?
Lexus web viewing:

major chatting and pics about the new car on club lexus here:

But back to our beloved GS. Well they introduced a new engine in the 2007 LS 460 today. Quote: "Take off with a 380 horsepower, 4.6-liter direct-injection V8 and the world's first eight-speed automatic transmission, launching you from 0-60 MPH in less than 5.5 seconds "
Yes 5.5 seconds and yes 8-speed automatic transmission and 380 horsepower! Anyone care to speculate when we might see this engine in a GS? A year ago when they announced the GS430 many of us were disappointed that the engine hadn't changed. But we also speculated that they'd never introduce a bigger engine in the GS before doing so in their flagship first. Now that the cat is out of the bag, when can we hope to see this engine in a GS?

GS460 and GS350 will be available this fall. We have been speculating the GS460 ever since Lexus register the trade name "GS460" late 2004. We can also expect the HP to increase verses the LS460. The LS has been tuned for quiet and smoothness. The current LS430 has 10hp less than the GS430 due to the exhaust system. 0-60 speed is also 0.1 to 0.2 sec more than the GS. Therefore, I speculate the GS460 would be 380 to 390HP with 0-60 between 5.2 to 5.4 sec. Right now we don't know if the GS460 will be 8-speed or 6-speed transmission. I would expect it to be 8-speed in order to keep the overall cost manufacturing low. Sharing the 8-speed transmission for the LS, GS and SC (next gen and not refresh) would make logical sense.
