Exclamation Navigation Update

Am I correct that I have to pay for the update to my navigation system? This of course was not mentioned when we were looking at buying the car. My street is not listed on my system and now I find out in order to get an update I have to pay money? Is there any way around this? Do they offer free updates for the first year or do I have to start paying from day one. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Default The new update came out this week..

and the cost varies slightly from dealership to dealership. You might be able to try one of the ClubLexus vendors to get a discounted price. They are not cheap. Most people don't upgrade for a couple of years or so. The information on the Map DVD is about 1-2 years behind publishing date so it may or may not have your street yet. Once you put the new DVD in the old one will not initialize anymore so you can't return it either. Since you are in our area, who did you buy it from? The selling dealer may give you some sort of break if you make your case but they are not required to.

Worked for me a couple of years ago. I was able to persuade them to provide a free upgrade on my GS400 -- especially since they used to offer the first year or two free.

I think it also depends on how good of a relationship you have with your salesman / dealership. They are providing a product and service so there's quite a bit of discretion on their part for this. It wouldn't hurt to tell the sales manager about your situation.
