All I can say is, I'm glad I found this forum this weekend. I was real close to picking up a 430, but found this place + the news about the new models. I'll wait a few months instead....

I heard from a sales person at a local Lexus dealer in Southern California that the plan was to discontinue the GS 430 beginning in Model Year '07 and to not replace it (i.e., no GS 460). He indicated that the GS 350 would be new to the line, but that was it. I find this hard to believe, and am hoping that the sales person was misinformed.

Has anyone heard similar updates?

I hope Lexus is not admitting defeat in the V8 midsize luxury game. The GS450h simply doesn't cut it for those who value practicality as well as performance.

Come on Lexus... You can do it!!!

98% of car salespeople are not-only misinformed, but also uninformed, yet the words "I don't know" seem to escape them. Instead they'll choose to make stuff up and suits their dreams and ideals (and also the context of the sale they think they might make).

There's absolutely no way that Lexus is going to get rid of the GS V8.
Now if the GS was the only V8 car they made at this point they'd probably consider it. But with the motor already being necessary for the LS, it will without a doubt filter down to the GS and SC as well.

Being a salesperson at a lexus dealer in Phoenix, I have to say the uninformed plea is more likley than the misinformed. We don't get any inside info! Understanding the car business, I have to believe that the GS350 will be unveiled for the fall and the 460 will be held back until late winter or maybe a very early 2008 MY release. The Marketing Dept. is not going to allow Lexus to fire all of their guns at once. With the new LS hitting the stores this year made public, they almost have to delay the GS's release. Any one else follow that logic?

I'm willing to bet he was trying to sell you that 430...

This makes sense. Also, salespeople are told to sell what is on the lot, not what they might have in 6-10 months.

I haven't heard anything new, except they are coming here. Let us not forget the GS 350 has been sold alongside the GS 430 in Japan since last summer.

Europe gets the GS 300 like us, so they will more than likely get the upgrade like us.

I am too lazy to check the spec on the 525i, but my friend told me it was actually a 3.0 liter. Is this true? In any event, a friend of mine who just bought a 525i with Xenon, Navi and premium (no sport) for $53K. Sounds pretty pricy to me for a 525i. The best part is, the car (one week old) is already in the shop for couple days now due to a computer problem that produces some kind of warning signal.

Agreed - call his bluff and say you'll buy the 430 if they're willing to sign a contract with you stating that if the 460 comes out within 1 year from your date of purchase they have to do an even trade. Or maybe to be more realistic maybe a very lightly depreciated trade... as in charge you a 400 dollar a month lease for having the 430.

seems like the GS460 is not really confirmed by lexus but we are assuming there will be one because of the LS460...but whenever it comes out it will probably take awhile...2-3 years?

The GS 460 will come we just have to be patient. Check out this free online dictionary which mentions the GS 460...

It has never taken Lexus more than 1 model year to move a new V8 motor across their entire lineup. I doubt this will be any exception.

wow, the car is already having problems? i still remember you talking about that like 2 weeks ago. this is very disappointing. this is the new bmw realibility? i guess their electronics are still not good enough

but yes, honestly, looking at real out of the door market price and such between comparable lexus and bmw / mb, i am really surprised how much more expensive bmw / mb are. price out a 550i or e500 with similar options, you see the same thing
