Why is this car being released in the winter? Do they know how many people are buying cars in the summer?

Any idea -- anyone -- if the 2008 GS350 will appear sooner?

I hope that Lexus will put more effort into the feeling of the brakes and suspension into the GS460.

I talked to sales at my dealership a couple days ago. They said that the GS460s will be hitting lots in October.

Just recieved my new Motor Trend magazine. This is what they have to say about the 08 GS.
"Big changes for the entire GS series, headed by the new GS460 that replaces the GS430 and packs a 342 hp/4.6L V8. On the hybrid front, the GS450h adds a positive VDIM/VSC cutoff. All GS models get revised front fascias, wheels, and colors plus numerous interior trim tweaks including new gauges. The GS460 also boasts heated/ventilated seats."

The GS 450h VDIM cutoff comment is correct, but 342HP is not. And hasn't the GS had heated/ventilated seats all along?

LS460 has 380 hp, but if it's "only" 382 hp for the GS460, that may disappoint some who predicted that the GS460 will have higher hp, maybe as high as 400 . . .

342hp is correct...for the Middle-East that is.

The GS460 most certainly will not have 342HP, at least in most markets.

As XeroKool mentioned, only a few Middle East countries will likely get this lower-powered version. Due to the fuel in those countries, the GS460 will be sold without direct injection, just like the LS460 and IS300 are sold without DI in those markets.

Whoa, you guys will be so mad if that 342 hp turn out to be true. I know I would but hell as long as they get some good performance numbers from it I don't think it would matter. I would be happy with 5 sec 0-60 and 13.5 1/4.

It will be true in some Middle East markets, but not in North America .

It's just a matter of common sense. The GS460 is getting the same 4.6L V8 as the LS460, but we don't know if it will be tuned differently. At the very least, it should have roughly around 380HP.

You take direct injection out of the 4.6L engine, and it makes 342HP, which is what the LS460 in a few Middle East markets is rated at. This is due to the fuel used there which makes it tough for DI to work correctly.

Why would Motor Trend magazine for the U.S. market report the Middle East version of the 4.6 V8 ??

It was perhaps a typo, or they may have gotten confused, or whoever gave them that information was just yanking their chains .

Here at CL, we know better .

Seriously though, MT and the rest of the big car mags have been wrong before about things they've "reported" on.
