Agreed, I'll have to take the news with a grain of salt...but I do hope you are correct.

There's a thread somewhere that speculates the GS460 will be delayed while they figure out how to fit that engine into the engine bay. Now you've got confirmed sources that guarantee they can squeeze a 10 cylinder engine into the same hole?

Even if the source were Lexus HQ, I'd consider it to be speculative at best. While they may design and build prototypes for those car, I doubt the decison to put them into production has been made. Furthermore, with the threat of higher CAFE standards looming, they may not be in a position to push for too much more performance anyway.

C & D listed the GS450h at 5.2 sec. 0-60. in an article.
Edmunds tested the GS450h at 5.5 sec. & their results are usually significantly slower than the other sources

I think the fastest 0-60 time for the GS430 by the car magazines is 5.7 sec.

the 430 engine in the gs430 is weak, it's been around since 01, it's nothing spectacular anymore. it used to be around 6 secs with the 5 speed. the 6 speed auto pulled it down to around 5.7.

and yes, the gs450h is very fast. just imagine the gs460

A V10 GS is not going to happen any time in this generation, sorry, it's just not. I'd put any amount of money on it. If anything they'd take the LS600h's drivetrain and use it - 5.0L V8 w/ hybrid electric system, maybe minus the AWD for weight savings. That'd make way more sense than a V10.

While I also don't think Lexus will be aggressive enough to make it happen either, that doesn't mean a V10 GS makes no sense. The M5 and S6 already have a V10. IF Lexus enters the high-performance midsize sedan market, a V10 is simply expected, particularly since they already have a V10 from the LF-A ready to share with it. The GS450h is heavy enough as is, a GS600h will make even less sense as sport sedan goes.

why v8 hybrid doesn't make sense on the gs? i think it's an option. or you are trying to say that the weight is a big enemy?

So, is the 2006 GS going to have essentially a 2 year run?
