In my experience, none of the "Yellow" halogen bulbs will do the trick. Even the PIAA ION is not as yellow as the 2nd Gen GS yellow fogs. There are two ways I know of to achieve that look.
1. Drop in a 3000k HID kit for the fogs. I have personally seen this setup and the yellow is exactly like the GS fogs, but much brighter due to it being HID. This option will cost you about $200 on ebay. BTW: This works for 2nd Gen GS clear fogs as well.
2. Take the foglight housing apart. Apart as in separate the front clear lens from the rear chrom reflector part. I haven't attempted this yet, but it should be done using the oven method just like the headlights. Afterwards, find a specialized yellow paint that will give the effect of the 2nd gen yellow fogs. This should work for the 2nd gen clear fog as well.
Obviously #1 is easier, but will cost more. If you are not planning to spend $200 or don't feel up to the task of doing a DIY foglight, then the yellow halogen bulb should suffice. However, it won't have quite the same yellow effect. I was going to go with the cheap yellow halogen option, but after I saw it in person....I'm saving up for the HID yellow kit.
BTW: Just a note, some people in the 2nd gen classifieds forum pay around $200 for a set of the yellow foglight housings.

I agree, bulbs will never be as intense. on my 2GS, I tried bulbs before I just bought the OEM yellow housing.

Yeah, the yellow bulbs aren't as yellow as a bulb in a yellow housing. I have them in my fogs. Nokya Hyper Yellow. Definitely not as yellow as I'd like but I prefer to keep a clear housing. The only other (and best) option would be HIDs but I'd rather not fork out the cash.

Funny, I plan to get a GS 350 sometime and I will do everything I can to get any yellow OUT of the fogs. The more bright white HID they look, the better IMO. But to each their own.

I just swapped my fog light bulbs to yellow for my 2006 GS300. I went on ebay, and got the Nokya 9006 2500k bulbs. It cost $7and whatever for shipping to you. I live in Hawaii so I had to pay like $12 shipping. But the yellow fogs were so worth it. Oh, and to install it I just jacked the front of the car up and took the clips out. Shoved the plastic up, and changed the bulbs. I couldn't get the assembly out. But I finished changing two bulbs in 15 minutes.
