I certainly think the 2IS has the best looking front of any lexus to date. That's until I see the new LS and ES in person.

Well, here they are side by side. I think the GS is simple, clean, and elegant; I think the IS is sportier, more animated, and intended to appeal to youger buyers. Both seem appropriate for their selected car, and I don't think they could be interchanged without seriously goofing up the overall look.

Lexus makes their designs top notch, they are very hard to modify without upsetting the cars total balance and looks. The 1SC comes to mind, when they added that grill and skirts 97-00, it made the car almost look totally different and not as timeless as the 92-96 models.

If you look at Lexus "facelifts" your lucky to get one.
ES-mild lower grill touchups for the most part
RX-the 350 changed none from the 330!
LS-seems to get the most obvious facelifts as its a very conservative looking car so its easier to improve. Facelifted in 98 and 04
2SC-barely any changes, tailights pretty much
1GS-in seven years, only the grill and tailights changed. no body changes
1IS-only grill and tailight changes

etc etc

The only thing maybe a diff grill with more obvious vertical slants. Otherwise, the 2GS is an EXCEPTIONAL design and tough to improve.

JUST MAKE SURE U DROP IT!

i just cut the lower bumper of the is over the gs and it looks so much better. the aggressive top part GS needs a more aggressive bumper thats similar to the IS. but ive never liked the rear tailights of the 3gs. the other day i walked by a couple of new avalons and those tailights would have been a good transition from the 2gs to the 3gs.

The 3GS stands out more when compared to the 2IS in my mind. Both cars are beautiful and I'll be getting a 2007 GS 350 AWD and a 2007 IS 350 this fall.

You can't. It's just too sweet looking.

I personally love the front end of the 3gen GS over the 2gen GS, it's the reason I bought one.

As a future NM Edition 450h owner, I must say that I'm looking forward to being seen in this beauty! I'm in my mid 30's so I'm young enough to like the IS but old enough like the conservative but sporty 3GS desing. Since I'm still on the younger side, I can honestly say that a bigger version of the IS could've made a cool GS!
