Default Facelift for New GS

After looking at pictures of the New LS460 and the IS350 I was wondering what was Lexus thinking when they designed the current GS? What can be done to fix the front end of the current GS300/430? I heard some owners say that you get used to the look after a while, but to me it still looks grotesque. I mean don't get me wrong other than the front end the new GS is absolutely gorgeous!! The interior alone is by far the best that I have seen in any lexus to date!! But seriously guys, what do you think that Lexus could do to drastically improve the looks of the GS for the next redesign?

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the front end is one of the best looking parts of the car.

I love the front end. It made me want to upgrade my 2001 GS as soon as I saw the 2006... and on the last day of '06, I did make the switch! To me, the almost-wanna-be-hatchback rear (when viewed from the side) was not appealing at all. But I guess I'm not a good judge of Lexus models. I used to prefer the ES330 to the '01 GS in the looks department. Of course, that changed after I owned the GS for a while! The 2006 rear is not as bad looking to me now... After spending time on CL and seeing what can be done with a 2GS, I partly wish I would have bought my friends black on black '04 GS430 (he traded it in on an Infiniti FX45) and spent half as much modding it as I spent on the 3GS. Then again, I love the new gadgets & electronic goodies of the new GS... except the brakes Oh well, until I can afford cars in the six-figure range, I'll have to settle for the very, very good Lexus GS430

IMO the FRONT END is actually one of the best parts of the car. Its aggressive looking and simple yet stylish

Im with everyone else here. The front end to me is one of the better sides of the car(not like anything else is lacking IMO tohugh). All the creases and curves make a very distinctive front end. I love it. It more than likely wont change for a while though. Maybe 2-3 years from now we will see a slight redesign. Very minor update(trim redeisgn etc)

You might have to get used to the look for awhile, or the only other suggestion is to buy another car unfortunately.

When I first started at looking at cars via the internet, the looks of the GS didn't immediately attract me. The rear window looked really small and the car seemed to be sloped with the rear looking like it was much higher than the front. But after seeing it person, I really started liking the looks and after driving it, I was sold on it. For what it's worth, many cars look MUCH different in person than pictures on the internet. The same goes for the A4 and the 330i. Both looked much better to me in person than on the internet.

But in any case, to each his own. I don't see how anyone could really like a car like the PT Cruiser, the Scion xB or even the Honda Element. But I see many of them around, so some people must like them.

The 2006 GS is the nicest Lexus ( exterior and interior wise ) ever, IMHO. Like I've said before, I think Lexus used up all the L-Finesse on the 2006 GS. After the 2006 GS all the new L-Finesse model's just kept getting uglier. The 2006 GS is awesome looking. The 2006 IS is good looking, but not as good looking as the 2006 GS. The 2007 LS is OK looking ( exterior wise, but the interior is beautiful ). The 2007 ES is a mess. Just MHO.

Like others have mentioned, I believe the front end of the GS is the most enticing part of the car.

I think the front end has an agressive look to it .My only change would be the grills (upper, lower).I am in the process of making my own grills in a stainless steel mesh.I hope they turn out.

I believe the Lexus GS is the most aggressive looking GS or Lexus yet rather but I still remember when I first saw it on the internet I thought Maxima but after seeing in person nowhere it looks like a Maxima but one awesome looking vehicle. It is currently my favorite Lexus. I don't know how Lexus can improve it.

Well, I'm going to agree with vinster29 that the gs front needs a redesign. I think it's poorly designed. The square shaped chrome headlight surrounds look out of place. The headlights themselves are placed too much on the side of the car like one of those ugly dogs with the eyes on the side of their head. More, that chrome strip at the bottom of the door is not attractive and the side sillouette looks like a hatchback. Overall an attractive car but needs some tweaks....imo.

Wow, I am surprised that anyone could dislike the GS Front end. I think it looks better than my IS's front end. Although, I like the back of the IS better... and I think thats what most people will see on my IS

Default 2GS design much better

I agree with the crazympg that the front end of the 2GS looks much better than the 3GS. And yes, I have seen both the 2GS and 3GS up close and personal. I totally agree with reggieK's assessment of what's wrong with the 3GS front end. If you compare the current IS350 and the current GS you have to admit that the IS350 looks much, much better. I think the 3GS should look more like the IS front end. Now that is one nice looking Lexus front end!!! Agree or disagree
