Default 1st time post here, gs awd question

hi everyone
just joined this club, i've been long time member on various bimmer and audi boards but i'm looking to get the 07 gs350 for my wife. i want to get the awd but i'm worry about the added weight that'll hurt the car's performance, can anyone here owns a gs300 awd can tell me their experience with the performance aspect of their cars. thanks in advance.

Welcome!

The added weight does hurt the car's performance. It is heavy (3759lb), so
in default mode the car is slow. There is a POWER ECT mode that changes
the gearing and makes the driving experience quite a bit better (at the expense
of lower fuel economy). Test drive the GS350AWD and I have a feeling it will
be plenty fast (unless you are used to 550i or M45 type fast of course )

The positive with AWD is the remarkable grip around twisty roads.
It doesn't match RWD fun when driven by a professional driver, but for the average
driver I think the control of AWD is more fun.

The grip of the GS300 AWD is amazing, even with the Dunlop run flat tires. I went AWD because I live in Northern Ohio (at the moment), so I bought it for the traction in the snow. The traction in the rain is also phenomenol with the AWD.

However, the RWD is probably more fun driving than AWD, and the GS300 RWD gets about 1 mpg more than the AWD. Now that I'm going to be living in NC, I would rather have the RWD and have a little bit more fun driving the car along with slightly better fuel economy.
