Default Lexus Japan GS Mudguard Set

Has anyone purchased these from L-Tunedparts.com? If so, do they require drilling? Can I put them on myself?
I contacted the Lexus dealer that I purchased my car from the and the parts guy said to stay away since they are not "genuine LEXUS" parts.

Has it been you experience that you need mudflaps? I've beeen driving the GS for over a year, and I get very little water and mud sling along the side of the car.

I haven't seen these particular mudflaps, but I installed mud flaps on my Range Rover a few months ago, and those were designed to align with existing screw holes. I would expect that these are of a similar design, but I'm just guessing. You will probably have jack up the car and remove the wheels to do the job.

The parts guy from your dealer is completely, wholely incorrect - dealer, especially Lexus, should be better at actually KNOWING the answer before saying anything to a customer. The words " I don't know, but will find out" have apparently NEVER been uttered by a car dealer EVER in my experience and hence the need and the beauty of these forums. Now, off my soapbox and to your question:

Yes - they align without drilling. Yes, they are Japan Lexus OEM - NOT aftermarket. I do not know if they (;-D) require the removal of the rear wheels, but my dealer did not charge me any $$$$ to install them when I had my 1500k service... so I imagine, if tire rotation is part of the service, there will be a nominal charge, if anything, to install these as they are quick.

Hope this helps!

Lee

PS: I have ordered these from L-tunedparts and I love them. It's not the efficacy of the mudguards (i.e., I live in California so there's no mud, but there are rocks and these will not help with that problem) - it's the LOOKS... They are really cool, but will NOT work with any aftermarket or OEM body kits on the lower rear bumper.

Default Gs Mudguards

I just got mine. I live in MA with all the salt, sand, and other debris on the roads here they are worth it. The only question I have is that they did not come with a manual - more so to distinguish which screws go where since there are 3 different size screws. Did you get any install instructions? if so can let me know which screws go where?

And yes!!! they do look great!!!
