Dude~ The speedo doesn't even read as high as you are boasting, how are you getting these numbers? Something is not right with you claims. No stock GS would achieve close to 170 mph, I have heard that the limiters kick in anywhere between 149 and 153. The rev limiter is what we are talking about here. Either your not telling us something about your car or you are blowing smoke. Sorry to put you on the spot but things are not adding up here.

Had to have been pretty late at night. The 118 is pretty busy. Then again, considering that the distance between the 405 and 5 on the 118 is only about one mile, I don't see you could accelerate to that speed in such a small distance. Also considering that there are some pretty good turns of the freeway in that area, your vehicle must be generating at least 2g's of downforce to make those corners at 170mph.

I'd have to say you meant 75mph instead in your post or you are counting in km's.

Oh to address the topic, I've only been to 100mph in my Lexus. At 2am in the morning I once cruised along at about 135 in my Camaro on the I5 up in the desert. At those speeds, things come up pretty quick.

just sharing my experience... i dont know why the govenor didnt kick in at 150 like it should have. it was a guess what the top speed i was traveling at since the speedometer goes only to 160. as far as mods go to the engine, all i have is intake and custom exhaust with straight piping and no cats... if you happen to take a look at the speedometer on a sc430 the top speed on it is 180 mph. i share the exact same engine... so is it that hard to believe that the 06 gs430 is not capable of reaching 160+ mph

You do realize that the maximum speed visible on a speedometer has absolutely no bearing on how fast a car can go, right?

150 and 175 are night and day differences in a car, there is no way a NA GS430 can do 170+. I've gone over 170 in my old car a Porsche that used to chirp the tires when i switched to 3rd gear at 90mph and it barely made it to 180MPH.

Lets see 3750 lbs, 300hp, 325s torque, 6 speed auto and importantly .28 cd (drag), yeah, it'll do 175 but it will need some more room. I do think the tranny will need some re-mapping as well, but I can see it happening. I don't think it would go much faster than that though.

I noticed that in my friend's 540 going about 110 in a flat stretch of I-5, it didn't feel that much different than going normal freeway speeds. In my other friend's TL, it seemed like any slight bump would cause us to loose control. Hard to describe.
Remember, BMWS are bred on the autobahn and are higher performance sport sedans stock. I agree, going over 100mph in a 540 is pretty comfortable, which is scary at how good that car is.

The TL, well if its an auto, it has 2 overdrive gears, so when it hits 100mph, that is about it. And yes, like most Asian sedans, stock, it feels very uncomfortable and unstable at that speed. The TL was made for America in America for Americans. That means cupholders and seat warmers
