Just got my '08 GS 350 and am thinking about taking it on a local track with a "racing school for a day" here in a few months (you can either drive their Corvettes or pay half price and drive your own car). Do you need different tires other than the ones the car came with to do these high speeds (ie over 120 mph)?

 

My GS would only go upto 140~141 MPH...

Then I was pulled over by a FIVE-O at 138 MPH...

But he was nice enough to ticket me 23 MPH over the speed limit, because I told the turth!!!

110mph on the short freeways of Hawaii (H-1). The scary thing is that it feels like 60mph, so quiet and handles wonderfully. Makes me want more!

Last weekend flying North up the 101 from LA to Monterey hit 138ish once I got out of San Luis Obispo. It was about 10pm and at that speed and at night you're scared crapless because if something (coyote, deer, racoon etc) pops out in front of you there isn't much time to react. You're out in BFE so there are no street lights, all you can see is the area your headlamps are lighting up and you know, even with highbeams, there isn't enough reaction time. But it was an experience none-the-less.

Funny thing is that going through San Luis Obispo, just after I stopped to fill up, the CHP lit me up for doing 85. They showed some mercy because they saw the luggage and my girlfriend knocked out in the passenger seat and gave me the old - "we're out here lookin' for drunk drivers so we'll just warn you to keep it at the speed limit." 20 minutes after that I was out in the sticks so I nailed it.

Even funnier is while I was crapping myself thinking some animal was going to pop out of the night and land in front of my car while out in the sticks the only time an animal popped out in front of my car was on my return home on Oso Parkway in Mission Viejo 5 minutes from my house (for those outside the state mission viejo is back in the city) - BAM there was a 5 ft deer standing on Oso at 2am.

 

bahaha good thing you had the luggage and gf..i should get something in my car and make an excuse out of it if i ever get pulled over

 

105 on Christmas on the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike...a lot of PSP out so couldn't go much quicker than that...more soon!!

I do 100 on the regular on 695 when it's clear, I hit 120 one late night going home...80 mph is my cruising speed, it's kind of strange people top speeds aren't higher...It seems that this car can go so much faster because the acceleration is so smooth...

The Fastest I ever went was 142 or so in my GS4, the 1st weekend I had it, on 295 going from Baltimore to DC...My homeboy sped pass me in his Maxima and I was already doing about 85/90 so 2 catch up and pass him I hit that 140 mark...

2002 GS300 did 130mph on the 5fwy comming back from EOS two years ago.

2008 GS350 did only 90mph so far, felt like i was going 60. Bought the car on 12/21/07 only with 220 miles reading on the ODO. Still in the breaking in process.

 

i am at 650 already gone 100mph for a few seconds as part of my break in

149 my car toped out....it wudnt go any faster i tryed it 4 times. amazed to hear of 160+. o yea 2:40 mins to vegas from walnut a record mayb?

 

How were you able to pass beyond 141MPH, did you have the computer reset? I tried many times, but my GS350 tops out at 141...
