I would think paying for the new GS would be worth it for the MP3 and new NAV on top of the new engine alone.

Well... I broke down today and bought a GS300 AWD. I am already on the edge of affording that so I figure the 350 would probably be out of my reach. A couple of dealers I spoke to said besides the maybe $1,000 or so increase the 350 would go for full pop at first making the 300's cheaper by about $6 or $7K after discounts.

It would be nice to have those 50 extra horses in the 350, but that discount is something I couldn't refuse.

Congrats, I know you will enjoy the car. Let us know your impressions after a few days.

Of course they're going to tell you that because they want you to buy the car now.

Thanks and I will. I can tell you that the difference in feel between the GS 300 and the IS350 were very different. I guess the fact that I am getting older and have a C5 Vette, I now want a luxury chill out car for a family. The IS was definitely quicker, but not as spacey and luxurious as the GS and that's what brought me around. At first I will miss the extra horses from my Vette (350 vs 250), but I no longer want to have a noisy car that feels every pothole and is kinda cramped too.

Yes but that is what the dealers are doing on the new 2007 ES 350's now. There were people looking to buy the 2007 ES350 and the dealer said...."see the sticker, that is what we are charging". The same will definitely be for the first 2007 GS350's in the showrooms......and I wanted to be one of the first to get one.

yeah but they're also right because the 350 will definitely go for MSRP when it first comes out.

I was seriously considering the 06 GS300 but have decided on holding off. For one thing, coming off a G35 Coupe, I am already spoiled with that extra acceleration. However, in additon, I don't want to settle for the existing Nav. I'd rather wait for the 5th Generation Nav, the extra power, and unfortunately the EXTRA BUCKS!
