19's or 20's?
Hi everyone...
Newbie to the forum and to Lexus in general, so I'd appreciate any guidance you guys can spare.
I just bought an 06 GS300 AWD and am itching to get some new rims. I've seen people on the msg board going w/ 19's and 20's and I'd love to know what you think the pros and cons are of both (ie: rubbing, etc)
I would really like to not have to drop the car and put on lowering springs, but I have a 4 finger gap in the front right now and adding new rims is probably going to make that more noticable.
Suggestions?
thanks!!!!

If you slap on 20's without lowering I don't think you'll have any problems (no rubbing) but it will look so high because the stock AWD sits .50" higher than the RWD's.
If you lower with 20's it will rub depending on the size of tire you go with. My car rubs a little in the front but it's not bad at all. It just rubs against the black plastic lining inside the wheel well, nothing that will cause minor/major damage to the rim, tire or your vehicle. If you have a situation where your rubbing on metal then you'd have an issue but you won't rub on metal.

Good feedback...
I'm pretty much indifferent as to 19's or 20's although I guess it would be nice to have the bigger rim...
I suppose the next thing is to succumb to the fact that I'll have to lower my car. Looks like most people are getting the Tanabe springs. Is that pretty much the standard one for the GS?

19" FTW!!
Its a matter of preference. I chose 19" because of the fuller spoke design I picked for my car. I went with the Euroline SL's. They have thick 5 spoke. If you were going with an open face design - optically it would look smaller and more like 18". It depends on the look you are trying to achieve in the end.
You can't go wrong with either one.
19" Performance minded.
20" Show Minded
22" - Never Mind!

I think I'm going to go with the 19's as I guess I'd rather be a little more conservative and not have to deal w/ any unneeded hassle.
I'm thinking of doing a black rim w/ a polished lip (for my blk \ blk) car. Any suggestions there?

I'd have to say that w/ this car, I'm more into the "look" than the performance. I drive like a grandpa nowadays... =) Good point about the rim envy though, that's exactly why I ended up w/ 19's on my last car instead of 18's. <sigh> decisions decisions
