Default Snap, crackle, pop. My GS300

I just dropped off my 06 GS300 at Lexus of Westminster on Monday the 15th, to take care of popping crackling issues at a service guys suggestion.
TBH, although I have had nothing but good experiences at Lexus of Westminster, I was surprised a service agent would be so pro-active to suggest tht I bring my car in for something that seems so widespread. They were also going to check a "creak" that I'm hearing when I lay my elbow on the inside of the door when I'm driving.

I'll post with what happens soon.
Wish me luck...

I just got a call today saying they insulated the doors, so the creaking is fixed.
The service manager wants me to come down Thursday morning though, and take a drive with him, to point out the other "pops".

We'll see what happens...

Well I went down to the dealership today, and took a ride with him. First off I noticed that the creak in my armrest on the door was gone... They had put some additional insulation in the door.

Second thing I noticed was that the car did'nt seem to make the pops or cracks anymore. Now today was a pretty cool day, so I don't know if maybe that had a little to do with it (less contraction and expansion of the plastics), but in the past I don't really seem to recollect the noises being less on cool days. We drove for about 25 minutes and I couldnt hear anything....

As of now Ive driven the car for like 2-3 hours total and I don't hear the pops anymore. I'll post more over the next few days, and let everyone know if the pops stay away...

Well I've had my car back 2 days now, and tbh I have'nt heard the same pops and crackles.woot woot I've driven it probably about a total of 40 or 50 miles since I picked it up from the dealer. I have'nt really driven it in the heat of the day though, as Thursday was very cloudy, and today I got out late. Tomorrow I plan to get out in the middle of the day..

So far so good

My car is unbelievable when it comes to interior noises. I hear new ones each month. The most irritating is the ML head unit. It makes the most irritating rattle in cooler temps. If I firmly hold the grey area it'll go away. I'm thinking of taking care of that myself, being that the dealer had my car for 8 days and did not fix the other creaking issue.

The latest is the drivers side door panel tapping against the dash board. It's ridiculous how much this car makes irritating noises.

I hear your pains everyone as I am dealing with the same issues. Most of them have been resolved except one minor one in the passenger door pillar. Nardeezy I have heard the one in the ML unit as well, only has appeared a couple of times for me though. The thing that came to mind for me was the NAV bypass and maybe there is a wire coupling that under heavy vibration is loose and rattling on the casing somehow. I know once I move away from run flat tires the remaining issues for me will disappear. Like I said the remaining rattle is very subtle and with some cushy tires I think that it will disappear.

Nar and Raptor. There is an actual issue with the ML speakers. Early vin #s have a defective harnesses that can be replaced. It's on the service guys list of issues with the GS. I am going to road test my car some more over the weekend, and then post here.

So far though, my cars creaks seem to have been fixed (keeps fingers crossed), and it is soooo much quieter, and I luv it!!!

These creaking rattling issues are quite discouraging. I was planning on purchasing the 07 GS350 and am definitely rethinking this decision. This type of issue is totally unaceptable for a 50 Thou Luxo car. Why buy a car that has this rattle syndrome? I know from experience, the manufacturer never quite irons out these issues that quickly. Therefore I might expect the 07s to have similar rattle and creaking problems. I'm very disappointed.

Yeah those were fixed for me as well. The problem with me is that I got so used to looking for sounds that even after these issues were fixed I was still looking for anything that made a peep. The one in the pasenger door piller is all that is really left and it is so minor that I am ok with it for now. The sound is so minor that even the air conditioner over powers it. Next time I go in for some service I will have them take another shot at it.

I still have a creak coming from the dash right in front of the driver where the windshield meets the dash. The dealer has done everything from replace the windshield, the speaker, to taking apart the dash several times to put foam in it... nothing has worked. Collectively they've had my car for over 5 weeks to fix this annoying problem...to no avail. I finally escalated it by calling corporate last week so they can have a "specialist" assigned to the problem. We'll see how well that works.

Default Any advice

I too really annoyed by the "poping" sound coming for the driver side front of the dash. I also hear it sometimes from the left right. I went by Lexus of Westminster(CA) and the service tech told me he has NEVER heard of such problems. I got a appointment for wednesday. Any advice from people who have been down this road as to what to say? I can't tell you how annoying it is to have this poping sound coming from my dashboard. I seems to be worse when I'm on the freeway or on any kind of rough road. I got my gs300 slightly used(9k miles) through a relative at toyota corporate. I've only had it a week and this poping sound is making me think I made a big mistake buying this car even though I got a great deal.

I thought the "popping" was coming from my dash as well, but after they insulated my doors, no more pops so far. I'm thinking that maybe because of the cars accoustics, although it sounded like the pops were coming from the dash, it was actually from the doors.

I'm still road testing, but so far so good.

Not all the satff have heard about the "popping" issues, although some are familar with it.
Initially when I went in for my appointment, Dave had heard about the door creak, but was unfamiliar with the "popping" issues. He let me know that the door creak is a somewhat common complaint in the LS, and can be fixed with additional felt insulation. I would suggest talking with Pete Nguyen, as he was the asst. mgr who went with me on my final road test, and is now much more familiar with the issues. Tell him Charles with the flint/mica GS sent you from here.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out for you

My advice -- and mine has been in for weeks for similar problems, the most recent being FOUR WEEKS IN A ROW! (and still popping and creaking) -- is to print out this thread! Also, let them know you plan to call corporate and, in the nicest way, raise the issue "Are many of these turning out to be lemons under the law?" You'll get attention.
