depending on the quality of the film and the installer, you are probably looking at anywhere from $40 - 100 to re-tint just that one door. You'll want to find out what brand of film the dealer used so you can match it, otherwise the look of that door may not match the rest of the car since different brands of film have slightly different looks (I'm assuming you don't want to have to re-tint the entire car again if possible)

I believe in you get what you pay for on tint installs...
technically there IS a factory tint on there. you won't be able to see it unless you're wearing polarized sunglasses. most cars have a SLIGHT tint on it....around 90-95% tint.

Is there? Really? is it an actual film, some sort of spray, or built into the glass?

it's most likely built into the glass.

put on a pair of polarized glasses and you'll see black spots on the glass.

Alvin is great. He's done the tint on both my GSs. His work and end product are near perfect.

So then, would it still be considered a tint? more of a dye or something then right?

right, it's more of a window treatment done when the glass is made. it's not a regular "film" tint like what the original poster is referring to. it is not going to chip or peel or anything like that. most luxury cars have UV protection in the windows nowadays.

So then my statement of "Factory Tint = B.S." is valid then....

Default Lexus has my baby

Okay, I took my car in to Lexus this afternoon and they immediately said they'd make it right (referring to the tint bubbling up) and I'm in a loaner ES330 and my tint will hopefully be removed and replaced tomorrow by Alvin O's. The paperwork says "Tint bubbling, check and advise," but my service advisor said there's no really good way to make a permanent fix and it would just be better to replace it. I'll post back tomorrow with final results.

Default NEW tint on my windows

Got the car back from KM Lexus. New tint on both sides rear windows. The car looks fabulous. The new tint has a wavy look to it, but I was told those areas will work their way out on their own.
I"m glad to report a happy ending.

you keep talking about having tint on the rear windows only, so it must be an aftermarket tint job (factory tint is dyed into all the windows). Luxury car dealers usually contract with a reliable tint shop that does all the tint jobs for them; and the shop warranties the job. Look through your paper work to see if there is a warranty booklet detailing the shop, job date and material used. It is separate from the other papers from Lexus, such as tire warranty or wheel lock codes, etc.
