Not trying to raise controversy, but that offer is just way too low... I'm in the retail business as well and I don't agree with their "take a hike" attitude. They should at least try to get you into something else. Good luck though!

I agree, even though the offer was too low I'm surprised a savvy salesperson didn't bother to sit him down and politely ask how he came to that figure, explain the real price, and perhaps show a alternative model or a preowned model. At least he was offerred a cold beverage.

If a potential customer walks into 3 separate Lexus dealerships, and all 3 dealers give basically the same "take a hike" answer, then the problem is with the buyers approach and behavior. A sales person needs to sell cars to earn a living, and they don't dismiss customers without reason.
If your only interested in one specific car, and you cut to the bottom line with the exact amount your willing to pay, then the only answer the dealer can offer is "yes" or "no." If the answer is "no", then they should offer you a beverage and you should move on without feeling slighted.
