Torque is a cars best friend ! It always SEEMS easier to put a car on a diet than to gain more torque out of a motor. This is speaking from a track car point of view, because realisticly you will never "safely" feel that power driving on the streets. Well, maybe getting on the on-ramp but then you're back to driving 70 mph on the freeway.

Someday, I'll own a car with a stock 500+ ft. lbs. of torque. Just my .02 cents.

Enjoying the thread!

I was saying i can't believe the the V6 GS350 is pushing 300HP.. That's a big jump from the 245 in the 06 model.. Maybe now consumers will opt for the v6 instead of the V8 which is producing about the same numbers as the V8.. and the GS350 will be more affordable than the 430?

What is the 450 going to have HP wise?
and as a side note, big jump from gs300 to gs350 (245 to 306)? think about the is300 going to is350. from 215hp to 306hp, that's pretty much 100hp jump! and brought the car from low 7 to low 5, a whopping 2 sec 0-60 (auto to auto)

that would easily be my answer as well. that's why i had never even thought about getting 06 gs430, it just didn't make sense to me when i knew a new engine is coming out soon

Ideally, it would have been nice to wait. But by the time the GS460 becomes available in the spring of '07, I will have spent two years driving my GS430.

But if I were considering making a purchase now, I'd definitely hold out for the GS460...especially after seeing the gen 5 nav display.

Yes, you get to drive a fresh spanking new model that few people have initially. When the GS460 comes out,it will not look like a new model to most people.
It's the timing sometimes, now is not a good time to buy the 430 if you can wait, but if you bought it last year, it's OK

Peak torque and hp figures are nice but no one can drive a car at one RPM point. Need to take a look at the entire band.
My vote goes to GS350's 2gr-fse, GS430's 2uz-fe can not catch V6 in both torque and HP at >5000 RPM. In addition, V8's sweet torque range is 2500 rpm to 4500 rpm, torque rapidly decreases outside of that range. GS350's torque is relatively flat.
If one wants to improve further on sound and top end torque, just upgrade GS350's resonator back to higher flow, SUS403 exhaust, similarly to Tanabe exhaust for IS350. It will sure beat the pants off the V8 at the high end.

GS350 will win.

This should make for a decent used car market for the 06 300 and 430

Good for us, but not as much for Lexus

That's a lot of GS'

Seems like the GS350 will respond well to a rear section exhaust.. Those graphs are really impressive comparing the V8 vs. V6 ? I wonder if the price will be around IS350 prices... It should be quite a big difference in the between the two... price wise?

Is there any news or educated guesses on whether the 2007 GS 350 will have VDIM or not?

Wow, 69% of you prefer to wait for the new GS350 AWD?!?

Does anyone know how much a GS350 AWD will cost?

man, look at the torque, isnt that sexy?

I dont think many, if any other V6's have such an steady torque line... Heck, M5's engine doesnt have anything like it either... Dual injection seems to be way to go... wow.

I'd still want the V8. Sounds SO much better, and won't work as hard.
