Default My door is messed up......anybody else?

Ok, the other day I was opening my driver side door. Once it was opened all the way, I hear this loud "POP" sound. I had no idea what it was. But I noticed my door was not closing very well. Well a few days later, I got to shut my door....and it won't even close! It's all F'd up. So I get to looking at it, and the base plate on the top door hinged came 90% off!!!!

I thought at first it looked like the weld busted.....but it looks like it's glued! Anyway, my door won't shut, it scratched the paint on my dorr my the crack between the door and front quarter panel. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet.....but I was just wondering if this has happend to anybody else.

Thanks,
Brian

The only place I would drive that car would be to the dealer ASAP. With only one door hinge attached, the car has lost it's structural integrity, and you don't know what might happen if you were to become involved in an accident. If this were my car, I would ask that the entire door be replaced at a mnimum, and if the car is still reasonably new, I would ask for a replacement. Get Lexus corporate involved in this process early, and don't allow yourself or your family to be put at risk in a questionable car.

I too did once notice a loud POP when opening my drivers side door -- but I couldn't see any damages like you've mentioned.

Regardless, get it repaired asap!

it sounds like there may be a problem with your door check (aka door stop). The part list for $96.20, but it should be covered under warranty.

Based on your answer fides7, you must work for Lexus. Welcome to the forum.

I can't go out and look at my car right now, but I assume a door stop is not the same as the door hinge?

I don't know if it's the same or not, but I had the problem in my friends civic before. We looked at the hinge and felt all the nuts/bolts and one was loose. Didn't know how it affected the "POP" sound, but once we tightened it, the problem was resolved.
