You know, its amazing that this post was listed since yesterday night after 1 week with my new GS300 awd, I notice that going up and down on the hilly roads, that the lights were too limited about 20 ft in front of the car and not far enough beyond so I had to always flip on my high beams when going down the hill to see things ahead. I hope this adjustment will def work. I'll do it this weekend.

Rexus, keep in mind you're going to need a long Phillips-head screwdriver, at least 8". Also, when you do it this weekend, can you tell me where the bubbles on the gauge are?

I'd have to open up the covers again to check, but if I recall correctly, I ended up with the front of the bubble at the second tick mark from zero toward the front and the horizontal gauge right at the red line. I did not adjust the high beams at all.
You are correct, adjusting the hard to reach bolt in the fender is the one controlling vertical alignment, and the easy to reach one controls the horizontal.

Sure, no problem. Right after the Michigan vs. Vanderbilt football game in which I am attending this Saturday, I will do the adjustment and try to show you were the bubbles are and the method of adjustment. I have a tiny camera that might fit in the area to take a picture of for you.

I've just got a GS 300 '06. The car is great, apart from the rattles from the dashboard which are a bit annoying in the otherwise quiet cabin.
The biggest problem I have is the hid headlights. They are set far too low giving a beam just a 30 meters ahead of the car which turns night highway cruising somewhat bunjee jumping. Do You think the beam may be raised?
I've read similar complaints from other owners on various forums but read no solution for that. Please help.

Strange, no matter how much I adjust bolt A to either direction, which I believe controls horizontal adjustment, the horizontal gauge doesn't move any closer to L or R. It stays dead center on the '0.'

I dunno, I'm still confused as to how the vertical and horizontal adjustment are dependent on each other. Seems to me that they're completely independent. I raised the headlight aim vertically and I didn't see any changes in horizontal movement.

Ahh, no wonder why. I was looking at the horizontal gauge for the high beams the entire time, which I didn't touch. Where is the horizontal gauge for the low beams? I couldn't find it per the manual which says it's to the bottom right-hand side of the bubble gauges.

There's a big gray housing behind the low beam light. Look carefully and you'll see that there is a window in it. Horizontal gauge is behind that. I know this is a lousy description ...
Oh, and the gauge doesn't look anything like the picture in the manual!

Thanks, larrs! You're right, the manual depicted the gauge poorly and it's not even in the same location! After fiddling around with my headlight aim for the past few nights, I think it's perfect now. The adjustments really make a huge difference, so for those that are going to do this, make small adjustments, drive around a bit and then adjust some more.

Glad you found it. I agree, it's really worthwhile and makes a huge difference with the lights.
The pictures in the manual are very difficult to follow. It first took me a while to find the second of the two bolts, and then to find the horizontal gauge.
But overall, well worth the effort.
