Are you sure its CCW to make the headlight go up and cw to make it go down? On the GX which has the same clog, its the opposite.

Did anybody try to this procedure on a 2008 GS350 yet. I went out and bought a 10" #2 phillip screwdriver trying to adjust the headlights vertically. I found the hold in the fender and the channel. For some reason, I cannnot get the screwdriver on the cog, try both side with no luck. The vertical cog looks smaller then the horiz. one for some reason. I wonder if Lexus change the adjustment for the 08. I know the fasteners for the engine cover is not the same any more. I wonder if they change the vertical adjustment for the head lights too.

There were several threads on this a while back. I don't know why they aim them so low other than the standad dealer story is they aren't too low, it's just takes some getting used to since these lights are brighter and have a sharper cutoff than old style lights. But there are lots of us that are right with you, they are too low. Some dealers will adjust them up a bit others like mine won't claiming that if they are in spec they can't do anything. So i adjusted them up myself. I'm much happier and nobody in oncoming traffic has ever flashed their lights at me. I have an 06.

I had trouble adjusting my headlights. The manual isn't very descriptive. The pictures don't do justice. Would someone kindly upload pics with arrows showing where I need to adjust the bolts?

This would put an end to the confusion. Thanks!

Here you go mcamson:

I think aiming the headlight so low is Lexus' stupid way of promoting safety. It seems that Lexus care more about the safety of the other drivers than the Lexus owners.

Do you guys know if the headlight aim is still adjustable even with the AFS?

I think AFS has the same ajusting procedure. I just did mine (non-AFS). At first I put all the bubbles on "0" and aligned all the red/blue lines according to the instructions. With that I was able to see only about 10 feet from my bumper.

So, I just parked the car against the garage door (my driveway is very leveled) and re-adjusted it. According to the bubbles, now my lights are WAY too high, but oh, well.. At least I can see now. No one flashed me yet, I guess the lights are not too high.

BTW, I used the flashlight for shining it into the holes, so I could locate the bolts before inserting the screwdriver. As usual, the instructions in the manual were useless. Dumb Japs, why can they build such excellent cars, but can't write the stupid manual so people can easily understand it. Or is it I am the one who is dumb here?

Yes they are, be careful with the cog, it can be striped easily.

A cog is just a gear.
