Default Headlight issue on GS 300

I've just got a GS 300 '06. The car is great, apart from the rattles from the dashboard which are a bit annoying in the otherwise quiet cabin.
The biggest problem I have is the hid headlights. They are set far too low giving a beam just a 30 meters ahead of the car which turns night highway cruising somewhat bunjee jumping. Do You think the beam may be raised?
I've read similar complaints from other owners on various forums but read no solution for that. Please help.

This is a common complaint of adaptive head lights, and isn't limited to the GS. There is an adjustment screw you can turn yourself, and if you read the owners manual, I believe it gives the procedure. The problem with adjusting them up is that when you go uphill, they will be too high. IMO, your better off leaving them alone.

Can I really adjust the automatic levelling headlight with a screw? I don't think that it would mean any problem if I adjust the beam a bit higher as I have compared it to my girl's Merc bi-xenon and the beam of the Lex is far lower than the Merc's. Plus I often use it on highways at 160-180km/h cruising speed which needs a good visibility.
Anyway thanks for the advice I will look for that screw. Any idea where it is located (nothing written in the manual)?
thx

I don't have the GS 300 manual anymore, but I know it's in there. In the GS 450H manual, it's in the index under "Headlight Aim." All you have to do is turn a phillips screw on the headlamp assembly.

The headlight beam adjustment is on p. 579 in the manual. I'm thinking of adjusting mine as well. Let us know if you decide to go through with it and if it makes a big difference.

I adjusted mine, and the difference is very noticeable. Had to buy a #2 phillips screwdriver with 10" shank to get at the adjuster in the fender.

You need to adjust both bolts in order to keep the horizontal alignment correct.

hey larrs, did you just align them by eye or did you measure anything? Would it present a problem with blinding on-coming motorists with our headlights?

I used the bubble gauge that's there to judge it. I adjusted it in small amounts ... took about 3 tries to get it where I wanted it. I don't think it's bothering any other drivers, no one has flashed me.

I also have the same problem with my headlight. Could someone kind enough to send me e-copy of the page to adjust the headlight? I don't have the manual and I would like to do it personally.

Yes please - my owner's manual is different since I have the Asia Pacific version of the car - and there's nothing in there about headlight adjustment.

I took a look at the bubble gauges last night before I adjusted the headlights and noticed the highbeam bubble was all the way to the left of the gauge and the lowbeam bubble was about two ticks left of the center. I ended up moving the lowbeam bubble all the way to the left of the gauge using screw B (the hard to reach one) and now the headlight aim seems to higher. One strange thing I noticed is that no matter how much I played around with screw A, the horizontal gauge never moved a bit. I saw the bubble gauge actually swivel as I screwed it back and forth, but the gauge never deviated from being perfectly in the middle of L and R.
