Default Vehicle jolting

This jolt is bad enough to get bad comments from passengers, as the car jumps gears 2 times in 15 feet. Again, this isn't my driving technique - Service experienced it in their test drive. It doesn't happen at 10+ mph, or if you come to a stop. Only at speeds of about 5-8 mph.

I have the exact same problem with my 2006 GS AWD;

I wanted to get others opinion -- is this is a design flaw (i.e. something we all have to learn to deal with) or is this possibly a problem with my vehicle?

P.S. this is very notiable when driving in BUMPER-BUMPER traffic or getting off at an exit with heavy traffic.

I've really been babying the car but this has happened a few times to me...no matter what i do! (I obviously won't "gun" it).

Default Try putting the transmission in "Snow" mode ....

when you are in stop and go traffic. I am curious if this will cure the "jolting". Are you driving in "Power" mode now?

This is normal. I experience it all the time when I'm pulling into my garage on my sloped driveway. I use the Homelink button to open up the garage door when I'm about 50 feet away and when I slow down to pull into the garage and tap the pedal to go in, it jolts.

Has anyone who doesn't have the AWD version had this same problem? I had the GS 300 for over a year and never experienced anything resembling a jolt, although I will concede that the gear shift from 1st to 2nd wasn't always seamless.

If you really want to feel a jolt, try a rolling stop in a RRS or LR3 - it's a real eye opener, but it's normal for those vehicles.

GS430 :

I have noticed the same in my car. I have also owned a 2004 (V6), and a 2005 (V8) Toyota 4Runner. They both did exactly the same thing. Like someone said earlier, I wouldn't gun it. It is always in the same place. It seems like it is some kind of transition where it doesnt know whether to shift up, or down.

Exactly it gets confused. My problem is in when I put it in reverse and the car is cold it shakes like it wants to stall. However if I let it warm up there is no problem. Prob has something to do with the direct injection that problem. The trannt jolt is a known lexus complaint. I had it in my Gen 2 GS and in my RX330.

Yes low speeds.
And with the new transmission, I never get this jolt. If its normal as some people are saying, then mine does not exhibit this "normal" behavior.
