you need a 2nd person to help you. when you test the pink wire with a volt meter, your buddy will be pushing the rear courtesy switch on/off continuously. if the voltmeter moves, you got the right pink wire.

opening the door and closing?
also im guessing i have to test the wires that are fixed to the cowl area. is this correct?

the black rubber ***** thing on the door frame. push that in and the dome light will go off...this is what you need to tap into.

ok, so i've tried testing the wires on the female part of the cowl (fixed to the car). i tried touching the negative wire with the negative probe and testing the red positive pin and didn't get a reading, but i think the battery is low on my voltmeter. so ill have to replace battery and try again.
is this way im explaining the right way or a good way to test for the power wire or should i go about it a different way (safer, don't want to blow anymore fuses).
ill probably give up and wire it to the foot well lights if testing for the wire is to difficult.

at this point, since you've got the worst part done, why not just take it to a car stereo specialist and pay them to do it "right"....probably won't take them more than an hour.

to mackel53: since you're in BC, i'm going to assume you are in the lower mainland. audiolines mobile sound did my sills install, they can do the rear ones for you. they are located in burnaby, near metrotown. website below:
