Default Anyone install the XM kit on there own?

I saw the install directions but they seem hard espically removing the bumper. I firgured maybe there is a way without removing the bumper?

Based on my experience so far, the bigger antenna works much better.

OK folks .. mission accomplished .. Factory XM radio kit self-installed. The whole install took about (3) hours.

I purchased my XM kit from Sewell Lexus (lexus-parts.com). Total price $278 delivered (with the forum discount). Excellent delivery time and communications !

Couple of notes:
- Read the instructions a few times before starting. Follow the instructions closely.

- I did NOT remove the bumper. I was able to loosen the right side of the bumper enough to feed the antenna cable inside the vehicle.

- Be careful when cutting of the trunk center trim piece. The outline on the trim piece is WAY too much. Luckily its up and out of the way, so you won't notice any big "ooops" .. but I know its there.

- I was able to route the antenna cable behind the plastic trim between the trunk lip seal and the body, thus eliminating the need to file a "notch" from the tail light assembly.

I bought, installed, then removed the XM kit. The user interface of the factory kit SUCKS compared to a cheap/tiny XM Roady (and the sound quality is the pretty much the same). As long as you get a two-into-one antenna adapter, you can use a MUCH smaller antenna than the one in the kit. Pioneer needs to re-work the interface so that on ONE SCREEN you see: Channel name/number, Artist name/song name and a row of "preset" buttons.
