Maybe its a matter of semantics, but wouldn't buying the very first year of an entirely new model of a car qualify you as an early adopter? And I guess for those of us that owned prior GS's, the wait for a new model was almost 8 years, so waiting only 1 year after the new version came out to get a significantly more powerful one is a bonus. Usually you'd wait maybe 3-5 years for an HP bump, but Lexus is doing 1 year Again, if this much HP was offered on the GS3 in its first year, would you really be saying "I don't need that much" or worrying about what's next in HP? I think its moreso perceived value, because this isn't something you can just upgrade, like taillights or shifter bezels, and the NAV unit would be costly if its the screen that gets replaced for 07'. For me, knowing this was coming kept me out of the new GS a year, but also alowed me to save more $$$, and going from my old GS to this is nite and day

Looks like we have a new term, early adapter. I'm defining it as someone who bought the first ones out. Just got mine a month ago. I do not have the squeaks and rattles others are talking about. There is a ticking noise coming from the engine bay. It's probably normal but I'll get it checked out. Simply put, I love the car. Still hate the front end but love the car.

Bottom line, different strokes for different folks. Even now, I'm sure there are people who will choose the GS300 over the GS350. Exterior wise, they are the same car. The increased HP and new nav are less important than saving a huge amount of money.
