Is the GS430 and GS350 the same?
I've been comparing the specs for the GS430 and the GS350. The only difference I found was one had a V8 engine and the other had a V6. The Adaptive HIDs were optional in the GS350. Some of the options on the GS350 come standard on the GS430.
Other than that, is there any difference?
I mean, both cars have different engines. But they both fly from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds.
If both bodies are the same with the same features (incl. optional), why pay $10,000 extra for a more gas consuming V8?
Their both just as fast.
Am I missing something here?

Lexus is going to come out with a more potent V8 engine. It's going to be dubbed the GS460. I guess they just couldn't release it in time. Maybe they had to workout some kinks or whatever the case. But I heard that the new 4.6L V8 is going to make 380hp and 370lb/tq in the LS, so I would imagine that it's going to make probably close to 400hp in the GS. And that's where you're going to want to spend that extra money.

I don't think you're missing anything
My guess is that Lexus had already completed the GS460. Marketing definitely wants to space out model introductions in order to give each new model proper amount of press. Obviously, the LS460 gets all the attention now. I don't even recall a press release for the GS350. I know it's not a major upgrade but gee, Lexus almost wanted to stay quiet about it.
I sure hope GS460 will come out sooner (e.g. Dec/Jan time frame). By then, early adopters should have already picked up their LS460 and news coverage should die down.

If you're comparing the '07 GS350 and '07 GS430, yes the HP rating favors the 350. But the torque advantage goes to the 430 along with the sweet sound of the V8. Gas milegae and price advantage to the 350. Handling should be better on the 430 if you choose the optional stabilizer.
Until the 460 is released, the GS350 is very appealing.

I am 99.9 % sure fitment isn’t the problems ,, if they can get a 5.0 in a IS they sure can get a 4.6 in a GS. I am sure they did not want the GS460 and LS460 go toe and toe at first so when the hype dies of the LS460 boom new GS 460.
