The problem that I have with GFM is:
It looks awesome when it is sunny outside, but it looks very drab when it is cloudy and there is no light to scatter. My impression was of a tad lighter hue of a US Navy vehicle or aircraft (grayish-blue). Not my cup of tea.
My mother seemed to agree with my assessment and got the silver. The logic was that silver looks reasonably good in any lighting, while the GFM only looks good in daylight with the sun shining. In San Francisco, that is not always the case. Also, GFM commanded a premium over silver at the dealership where we made a purchase.

Before I bought Matador Red, I was leaning toward GFM. But my wife didn't want me to get it. She said it was "pretty," but not good for a guy. Then I called a friend, whose fashion sense my wife trusts more than mine
, and he took a look and said virtually the same thing. Without any prompting from my wife! Later, I signed up @ CL and found a ton of great looking GFM GS's... girly my a$$!

You can see some differences here... Hope this helps answer some questions about the different faces of GFM....

I finally saw a GFM IS350 in the sunlight the other day. It looks like the last picture of Eternity3G's post coupled with the blue sparkles visible in the second picture - it's a dazzling effect. I'm still not sure it's the right color for the GS350, but it's a lot better than most of the photographs I've seen make it look.

Notice on a stock GS, the chrome trim atound the headlights encircles the actual light. And the line that follows the hood kicks up at the ends to the fenders. The eyelids cover the top half of the headlights and makes the hoodline smooth through to the crease on the front fenders....
