Default adding navigation to car

I have a 2006 gs300 with no navigation. It has the touch screen, which is used for climate control, audio control, bluetooth and mileage readings. I would like to add navigation to the car also. Is this possible? What parts would I need? Thanks a lot.

I've considered this add on as well. The only system I believe will work is the alpine nve-n827a, with a hub kit. According to my local nav expert it will intergrate with the gs head unit , all features except touch screen. It uses primarilly voice commands and a remote contol. The hub unit will also allow you to hook up your ipod thru it's aux jack. Only problem is this set up will run about 2500.00 installed. Maybe we both should have got factory navs! I will eventually get this set up as I believe alpine nav systems are among the best, but I need to save my coin for wheels & tires first! Good luck YO-G

Do you think I would be able to use the ALPINE NVE-N851A instead? Also, what do you mean by a hub. Is it like something in this link. http://www.lextasy.com/nav_converter_1160_prd1.htm Also, would this require me to take out the screen already in the car. Thanks a lot.

Is there any way to add on the factory navigation system to a navi-less 2006 GS300?

I'm looking at buying GS' with under 20k miles and many of the good deals come without Navigation, I want to buy a GS right now and don't want to wait for one with Navi.

Any members have done this factory upgrade to their GS?

I will stay away from those crooks at lextasy.com. Do a search on Lextasy and you'll know what i mean.

So the Alpine system would be able to integrate itself to the stock screen? I thought that unit only works on Alpine decks. And how would the stock deck know how to switch to the different video source?

I've never heard of the Alpine unit piggybacking on the OEM controls since Lexus works in conjunction with Denso, Pioneer and Mark Levinson.

If anything, your best bet would be to find an LKQ dvd/nav headunit and components from a salvage yard.

For those looking at used GS's, just find one with ML and Nav, much easier than trying to integrate components into a non-nav car, and if you look around, you will find a gs loaded for maybe 1-2k more than a base GS. I bought a new GS base in 05 then bought a used GS loaded....when buying used, options are usually frrebies in the deal.

Ryan, you are right. I highly doubt Alpine units is integrable to the stock lexus system. Lexus uses Pioneer for stock premium sound system and the NAV screen, software is made by fujitsu ten japan (ECLIPSE).
