Default How long will brakes and tires last on 06GS

Hello and thanks,

I am looking at purchasing a 06 300 .. 22,000 miles.

How often are people replacing brakes and tires for the average driver.

THanks,

Average real life driver, or average GS driver...

I don't have one, but would imagine typical with a 'sporty' vehicle with low profile tires, that 25-30K on tires and about 30K at most with brakes, but all depends on the highway to local split you do. If you're all local, then I'd say in the lower range, if you're doing a lot of highway, then 30K should be very acceptable.

I have a 430, but at 17k miles, tires needed to be replaced and front brakes were down to 10%. Since the GS300 has less aggressive stock rubber and brakes, you should do a lot better than GS430 owners.

I have a GS430 also and replaced the front brakes at 16k. Swapped the wheels and tires for aftermarket wheels at 15k but the tires on my OEMs were pretty worn. Probably had another 5k max left on them (I kept them as spares -- haven't gotten around to replacing the tires on them)

Hopefully, you have a new full size spare tire.

Measure the new tire tread depth and compare to the tire's tread left on the front and rear with 22K miles.

I believe 3/32 of an inch is considered the minimum tread depth to drive on.

Hypothetically,

If the new tire has 5/16 tread depth; the tires now have say, 5/32 depth at 22K miles. (1/32 tread used for every 4400 miles)

You have 1/16 inch usable tread left. Or 8800 miles by the above formula.

I have about 18K miles on my GS300 AWD's Dunlop run flat tires. I expect to replace them at about 23K miles. My dealer says they are wearing exceptionally well for this tire. If those are the original tires on the car you're looking at, then you probably will need to replace them soon. If it's a Lexus cpo car, work a new set of tires in the deal. The tires must have a minimum tread life remaining on a cpo car.
