I love the look of my sharkfin antenna.

Notice how the majority of the people on this forum who are bashing the sharkfin look just happens to have the year without one.

When asking the question of having sharkfin or not, one has to consider the alternative, if one is to have XM radio installed. The alternative to having a factory-installed sharkfin in matching color is to have a small black antenna mounted on the front lip of the trunk.

Not only does the sharkfin look a lot better than the black antenna (on my silver car), it is also a lot more reliable solution. There is a chance the antenna on the trunk can get snapped off when cleaning the snow/ice or washing the car.

Why don't they just wire it to a roof spoiler? It'll still look clean.

The question is sort of "moot," isn't it? If you get the '07, you have a sharkfin (unless you drop the garage door on it). If you have an '06, you don't have a sharkfin. The intelligent thing would be to have the antenna only with an installation of an XM radio.

I'm not in love with the Lexus sharkfin but it is a visually better-looking design than the BMW or Mercedes fin, sort of like the difference between a plate of sushi vs. a plate of sausage.

Well for me I like it because the reception for XM is much better. A side note I’m a Amateur Radio Operator and my pervious cars always had some kind of short antenna on them, so the sharkfin doesn’t make the car look better but it doesn't bother me either.

Probably you guys already know this but the reason why no sharkfin on 06 was because all sharkfins are patented by the manufacture, by the time Lexus come up with there own sharkfin look they missed the 06 and installed it on the 07. Just my luck there’s probably a sharkfin expert out there that will flame me now.

I like it because it lets you know who has an 07 or an 06 GS.

Bingo! That is how I know there hardly any '07 3GS in our area, while I do see a handful of '06 models.
